SourceAudio x Symphonic

We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Symphonic Distribution.

Symphonic artists and labels can now opt into SourceAudio’s AI music dataset licensing marketplace, opening up a new revenue stream from a part of the industry that’s growing fast. Participation is fully optional.

Artists retain ownership, nothing is included without an explicit opt-in, and every use is licensed and compensated.

Symphonic CEO Jorge Brea put it simply: “We fully believe that no one’s art should be used without their express permission and fair compensation.

We share that belief and are focused on building real infrastructure around AI training with structured agreements, transparent reporting, and recurring revenue for rightsholders who choose to participate.

Our Article Is Live on amp’s Best Audio Brands 2026

We contributed a piece to amp’s Best Audio Brands 2026–now live as part of their 7th annual edition–and it pulls directly from what we see every day on the platform.

The piece looks at how sync decisions shifted in 2025: search behavior moved away from genre labels toward mood, pacing, and emotional function. Downloads grew from roughly 60 million to more than 95 million year over year. And the music that traveled furthest wasn’t necessarily the most prominent. It was the most adaptable.

The broader argument: sync is moving from instinct-driven to intelligence-informed. That shift is already visible in the data, and it’s shaping how the most effective creative teams work.

Brief Inbox: We Want to Hear From You

The Brief Inbox is now live in your SourceAudio workspace. It’s a shared place for networks, production teams, and catalogs to post briefs, pitch music, and track submissions in one place instead of across scattered email threads.

If you’ve already started using it, we’d really love to hear how it’s going! What’s working well, what’s missing, and what would make it more useful in your day-to-day workflow.

What you share directly influences how we evolve it from here.

A complete UI overhaul

After months of design work, the admin interface is being rebuilt from the ground up. The previous experience was outdated and had a myriad of design inconsistencies collected over the past 15 years, which made SourceAudio confusing, especially for new admins. My goal with this UI re-work was to bring SourceAudio up to date with modern software design patterns, giving our users a sleeker, more streamlined experience.

New systems-based design improves consistency

With our new systems-based approach to design, managing your catalog with SourceAudio should be clearer than ever. Every component, from buttons, tabs, and font sizes, will be more consistent across the board and refer to more intuitive design patterns.

Faster iteration

Working with design systems also means faster improvements. Future updates to SourceAudio can now be designed and shipped more efficiently, with every new feature feeling native to the platform.

A more modern feel that makes finding what you need easier

Rounded corners, refined shadows, and a streamlined color palette give the admin a modern look and feel. But it’s not just aesthetics – the cleaner design makes navigation easier and keeps your focus on managing your catalog instead of getting lost in visual clutter.

Streamlined admin workflows

Admins and end users need different things from SourceAudio. In the new admin workspace, I targeted admin-specific workflows and consolidated them to one dedicated place, separate from end-user tools.

Centralized catalog management from the new admin Library

The biggest addition to the new admin panel is the new Library page where you’ll be able to manage your database of tracks, artists, and more. From browsing to editing to importing, any functions related to your licensable media will be centralized in one place built specifically for admins.

More accessible playlists

Playlists are one of the most used tools in SourceAudio with over 2,000 playlists created weekly across the platform. Previously, they were tucked away into the side navigation bar. With this new update, we’re making playlist management more accessible and expanding playlist functionality, including highly requested features like sharable playlist folders, bulk deleting, and an improved playlist creation flow. (Look for these updates to make their way to end-users in the next batch of updates!)

Faster site switching

If you manage multiple SourceAudio workspaces, switching between them is now seamless. Log in once, then use the new dropdown in the navigation bar to instantly switch between workspaces—no more navigating to a dedicated page. Less friction, faster workflows.

Iterative improvements moving forward

This redesign is a major milestone, but it’s just the start. We’re committed to continuous improvement—listening to your feedback and shipping updates that make your work faster, clearer, and more efficient.

Stay tuned!

For our latest Client Spotlight, we’re heading to Bologna to catch up with IRMA Records and Corrado Dierna, Head of Licensing at one of Europe’s longest-running independent labels and a true institution in the world of sync.

With nearly four decades in the business, Irma has built a catalog that moves effortlessly across genres, formats, and decades – and continues to show up in global campaigns, major TV series, and cultural moments where the music really matters. In this conversation, we talk about longevity, standout placements, and what it takes to stay relevant in an ever-changing licensing landscape.

“We focus on enriching our large International Network of partners worldwide, trying to be competitive and efficient in any negotiation and request we deal with.” — Corrado Dierna, Head of Licensing, IRMA Records

1. Can you tell us about your role and what your team focuses on?

I’m the Head of worldwide Licensing for Irma Records, an Italian Independent Label based in Bologna that recently has celebrated its 37th Birthday in the Music business. Irma started releasing music in 1989 and is today one of the oldest Independent Labels all over Europe. We’re internationally renowned through its several labels, each dedicated to different music trends, from Italo House to Dance, from Disco to Funky, from Lounge to Jazz, from Indie Rock to Electronic. Thanks to our sister Company, Publishing, which handles all releases on the Irma Catalog, we can offer immediate One-Stop and easy, clearable music for all types of Sync Licences, Films, TV Placements, and various other special Marketing activities. We focus on enriching our large International Network of partners worldwide, trying to be competitive and efficient in any negotiation and request we deal with.

2. Can you share a recent project where music or sound design made all the difference?

We were recently involved in a social media campaign for Apple, advertising an iPhone and an iWatch. The music used was all based on samples we’ve cleared for a dance track recorded in the UK.

3. What’s one project you’re particularly proud of?

Our Claim to fame in the Sync world must be when, years back, we managed to license a very high number of tracks to be used as background Music during various episodes of one of the most famous TV Series in the world: Sex & the City.

4. What’s a moment in pop culture where the music choice really stood out to you?

When we licensed ‘Bad Side’ by LTJ X-Perience Feat. Anduze for the launch of a very famous video game ‘Grand Theft Auto’ that starred the character of a known American DJ in the Film, and it was this actual DJ who pressed to have our tracks featured in the scene! And it does work just perfectly.

5. What’s a song you’ve had on repeat lately?

I’m loving the recent releases by Anduze (Such a great singer) and the brand new Album by The Sweet Candies. Great Soul Disco vibes with amazing live musicians and the three lovely singers.

Huge thanks to Corrado Dierna and the IRMA team for sharing their perspective and for continuing to set the bar for what long-term, artist-first licensing can look like on a global scale.

Native Instruments x SourceAudio

This month we announced our partnership with Native Instruments, bringing SourceAudio into one of the most widely used music-creation ecosystems in the world.

The goal is simple: reduce friction between creation and licensing. Make it easier for music to move from idea → catalog → real-world use, without breaking workflows or introducing legal uncertainty.

This partnership is about meeting creators where they already work and giving rights-cleared music a more natural place in modern production environments. More to come on this as it rolls out.

A new way to manage music briefs

If you’ve been emailing briefs, chasing follow-ups, or juggling spreadsheets, this one’s for you.

The Brief Inbox is now live inside your SourceAudio workspace. It gives networks, production teams, and catalogs a shared place to post briefs, pitch music, and review submissions without leaving the platform.

Review and license more efficiently

✅ Clear briefs with context (usage, mood, references, timing)
✅  Faster responses from the catalogs you trust
✅  Everything tracked in one place, end to end

You can access it now directly from your SourceAudio workspace.

How 2026 is taking shape

Throughout 2025, usage of the platform grew in scale and became more embedded in real workflows.

Over the past year, more than 95 million tracks were downloaded, with over 58 million plays and close to 4 million new uploads. The catalog grew to more than 34 million total tracks. This level of activity reflects how often music on SourceAudio is moving into real projects across broadcast, streaming, advertising, and content production.

In 2026, our focus is on:

👉 A full UI refresh that modernizes the platform’s look and feel while making complex workflows clearer and easier to navigate
👉 Building more direct, revenue-generating pipelines for catalogs, including expanded licensing and monetization opportunities
👉 Scaling AI and dataset licensing in a way that creates meaningful, recurring income for rights holders
👉 Making SourceAudio a system catalogs can plug into and actively use to drive business

These priorities reflect how SourceAudio is used every day. As more music moves through the platform and into active projects, the focus shifts to clearer workflows, more intentional monetization, and easier integration into existing catalog operations.

Have a catalog and want to consider opting into future AI licensing opportunities? We’re actively onboarding new partners and would be happy to share future opportunities with you:

We’re excited to bring back our Client Spotlight series, where we highlight the incredible work our partners are doing across sync licensing, production, and music supervision. Each month, we’ll feature one of our clients and share how they’re using SourceAudio to power their business.

For our first edition, we’re shining a light on Dom Toulon, CEO of CAPP Records, a San Francisco Bay Area–based record label and sync licensing company with over 25 years of history in music and placements across some of the biggest films, trailers, and ads.

1. Can you tell us about your role and what your team focuses on?
I’m the CEO of CAPP Records Inc., which I run alongside my co-founder and CFO, Marc Oshry. Together, we manage three SourceAudio platforms and provide one-stop music licensing and in-house production services for film, television, video games, and advertising.

Our catalog spans more than 100 years of music across all genres and eras, and we’ve placed thousands of songs in projects ranging from The Green Book and Ghost in the Shell to The Meg. Beyond licensing, we offer custom production services, contract negotiation, artist relations, and more—all fully E&O insured through Lloyd’s Bank UK.

2. Can you share a recent project where music or sound design made all the difference?
We recently licensed our A.S. Philharmonic Orchestra rendition of “O Fortuna” (from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana) for Paramount Pictures’ upcoming trailer, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.

3. What’s one SourceAudio feature that’s become essential for your team?
The ability to showcase separate, dedicated SourceAudio specialty catalogs. With such a large and diverse catalog, this feature allows us to better serve distinct licensing and client needs.

4. What’s one project you’re particularly proud of?
Signing local jazz pianist and composer Joel Evans. He already had hundreds of film and TV placements, but we helped adapt his catalog for advertising—re-recording tracks with new lyrics and marketable themes.

That led to big placements like Toyota’s Yaris Cross ad with “Wonderful Day” and KFC’s Holiday From Home campaign during the pandemic with “What Could Be Better”.

5. What’s a moment in pop culture where the music choice really stood out to you?
When we licensed “Look of Love” by ABC for the finale of Netflix’s Point Blank (2019). The way the song carried the suspense and energy of the entire sequence was unforgettable.

6. What’s a song you’ve had on repeat lately?
“Good Vibes” by Chad Future, a new K-Pop/American artist we recently signed.

Big thanks to Dom and the team at CAPP Records for kicking things off!

It’s been a huge month. Here’s a quick look at how we’re pushing the industry forward. Ethically, strategically, and always with creators at the core.

New: AI Dataset Licensing Marketplace

We launched the first scalable, fully cleared AI dataset licensing marketplace, and it’s already generated over $1.35M in committed annual revenue from the first wave of opt-in deals. With over 14 million fully cleared tracks, 3 million SFX, and 200 sampled instruments available for model training, we’re offering the first scalable, transparent solution for training music AI models the right way. Several companies, including Wondera, are already onboard and using our cleared data to fuel innovation while respecting copyright.

SourceAudio × Musical AI = Ethical AI, Tracked to the Source

We’re teaming up with Musical AI to take ethical generative music a step further. Together, we’ve created the first end-to-end solution for licensed training and output attribution. AI companies can now train models on fully cleared music—and trace AI-generated outputs back to the original works to compensate the rightsholders whose songs contributed. It’s a win for artists, a win for AI, and a big leap toward sustainable, transparent music innovation.

A2IM Member Spotlight

We were thrilled to be featured in this month’s A2IM Member Spotlight. What began in 2012 as a solution for better music discovery and storage has become the sync industry’s most widely adopted platform. Huge thanks to A2IM (American Association of Independent Music) for recognizing our work and supporting independent music at every level.

Up Next: AMPLIFY

Something new is on the horizon. It’s built for both the music makers and the music seekers. It’s powered by data, shaped by taste, and designed to surface what matters. The future of sync is here. Stay tuned.

Thousands of companies already rely on SourceAudio to search, license, and track music at scale. If you’re ready to work smarter with your music catalog, we’d love to show you what’s possible.

Big news: In May alone, SourceAudio’s new AI dataset licensing marketplace generated over $1.35M in new annual recurring revenue for the artists, publishers, and libraries who opted in.

We’ve launched the first scalable, fully cleared dataset licensing marketplace for music, now offering:

  • 14 million fully cleared tracks
  • 3 million sound effects
  • 200 sampled instruments

And it’s already in use. Wondera.ai is one of the first AI platforms using this new pipeline:

“At Wondera, doing the right thing starts with respecting artists’ rights. Over the past year, we’ve been actively engaging with major labels and publishers to explore meaningful partnerships. While the complexity of rights across stakeholders made the process intricate, it underscored the need for an immediate, streamlined solution. That’s why we partnered with SourceAudio, whose fully cleared, high-quality catalog lets us move fast while continuing to build bridges with the broader music industry.”  — Bill Dafflon, Founder & CEO, Wondera.ai

Licensing revenue is paid out to rightsholders either up front or throughout the term of each agreement. Some catalogs are already generating over $100K per year from dataset deals made in May.

This model is built on transparency:

✔ You see the pricing, structure, and use cases of every deal
✔ You choose whether to opt in
✔ You retain control of what gets licensed and how

“By generating this revenue for our rightsholders, we’ve proven that responsible AI companies will partner with the music industry when presented with a fully cleared option to train their models, taking the path that respects artists and longstanding IP laws. This demonstrates that when AI companies license music properly, everyone wins. Artists get paid, AI gets premium-quality training data that their models require, and innovation continues to accelerate. We’re building the infrastructure that makes this possible at scale.” — Andrew Harding, Co-Founder & CEO, SourceAudio

This new offering complements SourceAudio’s existing role as a trusted licensing engine for sync, radio, YouTube Shorts, streaming platforms, and global ad agencies. In 2025, we’re on track to generate $20M+ in licensing income for rights holders across all these channels.

“We’re building the music licensing platform for nearly every conceivable market outside of streaming – all while ensuring tech and media innovators fairly compensate the very creators whose work makes their work possible.” — Drew Silverstein, President & Head of AI Strategy, SourceAudio

This milestone signals a major shift in how music can power the next generation of technology—while ensuring rightsholders stay in control and get paid. With a transparent, scalable model and growing demand from AI companies, dataset licensing is now a real, meaningful revenue stream. And SourceAudio is leading the way.

The infrastructure is built. The opportunity is live.
Get in touch to explore what’s possible for your catalog.

As we wrap up 2024, SourceAudio has solidified its position as the system of record and single source of truth for the music licensing industry. Through unprecedented growth and democratization of cutting-edge music technology tools, our platform has become the essential backbone for over 1,000 music catalogs, publishers, content producers, broadcasters, and streaming networks.

2024 By the Numbers

  • 33.1 Million Songs Hosted
  • 446,000 Writers Represented
  • 160,000 Publishers on Platform
  • 140 Major Broadcast/Streaming Networks
  • 1M Playlists Created
  • 59M Tracks Downloaded
  • 4M Total songs processed by AI tagging

⚡ A Year of Innovation and Strategic Growth

Q1 began with a strategic AI Tagging system rollout in January. We launched the system first to select participants, and then we expanded across our entire platform. February saw the integration of Radio detections into our SA Detect panel, enhancing our monitoring capabilities. March brought two major innovations: AI Playlists with continuation features and a complete overhaul of our email design system to improve user communications.

Moving into Q2, we built upon our AI foundation with the release of AI Tagging v1.1 in April. May brought free AI-generated Album and Playlist Art. In June, we made all e-commerce features free for clients.

The democratization of our premium features continued through Q3, as we eliminated fees for File Delivery (up to 200GB monthly) and made AI Tagging freely available to all clients. This period brought major upgrades to Alpha Libraries, our comprehensive radio production music service. The platform now serves over 2,500 US stations with enhanced on-demand transcoding capabilities. These improvements streamline content delivery for our radio partners.

Q4 rounded out the year with the introduction of AI-powered stem separation through our Music.AI partnership, alongside expansions to our broadcast monitoring capabilities and metadata management tools. These additions further cemented our position as the industry’s trusted system of record for music licensing and distribution.

🎆 Looking to 2025 and Beyond

As we look ahead, our CEO and Co-founder Andrew Harding shares his vision:

“SourceAudio is relied upon as the system of record and source of truth for over a thousand catalogs, labels, and broadcasters. Whether it’s through home-grown tools & features or 3rd party vendor integrations, every one of our users and clients can expect new efficiency and productivity unlocks from our team on a regular basis. We are committed to innovating and driving new value for everyone who touches the platform, and we are proud to say we followed through on that commitment big time in 2024. Our 2025 roadmap is loaded with even more.”

As the definitive source of truth for music licensing and discovery, SourceAudio continues to shape industry standards with over 500,000+ weekly catalog searches and 188,000 new songs added weekly. Our commitment to innovation and accessibility has resulted in a more robust and user-friendly ecosystem for music professionals worldwide, solidifying our role as the essential platform that powers the future of music licensing.
