RIGHTS DATA EXCHANGE

RIGHTS DATA EXCHANGE

valunode facilitates rights declaration, monetisation, and enforcement by building an exchange for trustworthy metadata and verifiable credentials.

Our data exchange enables users to declare their intellectual property or personality rights across creative sectors, distribution channels, and national jurisdictions, and receive electronic attestations.

Our discovery protocol allows online platforms and other rights users to retrieve and process accurate information for licensing, distributing, and remunerating digital media and likeness. It also helps users check content provenance and authenticity.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

valunode builds a secure and scalable rights data exchange in collaboration with early adopters. With the support of Accelerate Estonia and the European Union, we tested prototypes for book, music, and news publishers, libraries and digital service providers.

We adopt international standards and contribute to developments related to identity and trust. valunode examines both watermark- and fingerprint-based recovery of data manifests to create its global rights declaration and discovery protocol.

TOWARDS A COPYRIGHT INFRASTRUCTURE

TOWARDS A COPYRIGHT INFRASTRUCTURE

valunode emerged from research on rights data conducted by Philippe Rixhon and his associates. In the study Copyright and New Technologies, published by the European Commission, we outlined a framework of open standards and emerging technologies to ground a copyright infrastructure.

valunode co-founded the Copyright Infrastructure Task Force, which issued its first report on Interoperable, trustworthy, and machine-readable copyright data in the AI era.

In Enabling the Internet of Value, published by Springer, we showed how tokenising media assets can automate licensing and bring new opportunities to the creative industries.
