Bio
I was born in Changchun, China, and immigrated to America with my parents when I was no older than 3. Despite moving to the US at such a young age, I learned and became fluent in Mandarin. I can also write and speak some Spanish. I’ve lived in the Midwest for most of my life and enjoyed the quiet and peaceful environment there.
Around the summer of 2015, my family moved to Massachusetts for job relocation purposes, and we’ve been living here ever since. While initially not used to the fast-paced lifestyle, I changed my mind and decided that the East Coast was pretty cool. I attended Bentley University, which U.S. News has ranked #1 in “Regional University North”.
During my college years, I did some internships and freelancing work, the most notable ones being a TechStart Intern at Liberty Mutual and developing an application for a Silicon Valley startup. After college, I participated in Capital One’s Developer Academy, which is a 6-month software engineering boot camp for non-CS grads. The curriculum was structured like a college course, with lessons, exercises, and individual and group projects. Near the end of the program, we CODAs were split into groups of 5 and placed on actual Capital One teams that gave us a project to do.
After graduating from the academy, I joined my cohort and many others in the company’s Technology Development Program, a 2-year rotation where you would be placed on a tech team for 1 year and rotate to another the upcoming year. For my first rotation, I am on a backend team and have already done some work with Golang, Postman, and Jenkins.
