]]>After review of the first batch or 2024 grant applications, the xx Foundation is thrilled to announce the approval of its first grant under the newly revamped 2024 xx network development grants program. This marks a major milestone for the Foundation and the xx network community. The grant, awarded to a collaborative project led by longtime community leader and node runner, Bulldog, developed in partnership with BitFashioned, focuses on the development of the much-anticipated XX EVM Bridge. More grant approvals are expected in the next 30 days.
Project Commencement and Ambitious Goals
Development for the XX EVM Bridge is set to begin immediately, with an ambitious target for completion in April Q2 of this year. This project, representing innovation and technical prowess, aims to create a seamless bridge from the xx network blockchain to EVM-enabled blockchains, starting with the Ethereum blockchain. We purposefully launched with the native xxcoin at MainNet in November 2021 to assure the security of the network through staking of the native coin. That said, since MainNet, an EVM Bridge had been hoped for by the Foundation.
Partnership and Collaboration
The partnership among the xx Foundation, Bulldog as the project lead and BitFashioned as the 3rd party developer, underscores the collaborative spirit that defines the xx network. ]]>The xx Foundation is excited to announce that it is Re-launching it’s grants initiative to jumpstart the construction of privacy protecting dApps using the xxDK and incentivize fundamental research on the xx network.
The xx Foundation will be involved as advisors for every grant project at this stage, providing support and advice as the projects progress.
All interested developers are welcome to apply for one of these grants.
The Grants Program is live as of Jan 1, 2024 and grants are ready to be awarded upon.
The program will award individual grants of up to 2,000,000 xx coins each from a pool of 20,000,000xx.
The Foundation is looking for both experienced and new developers to build out the unique platform offered by the xx network.
When applying, an applicant will fill out a google form application which we will link to below.
Applicants should, in general, follow the provided google form application format, but may attempt to go off script in order to best convey their proposal – including diagrams, graphs, survey data, and potentially code examples or pseudocode.
To submit a grant application either fill out the google form, or email your completed custom application to [email protected]
We will accept .doc, .docx, .rtf, and .pdf files.
The xx Foundation will make an effort to respond to all applicants within 1 week (7 business days) of application submission. The Foundation may inform the applicant of suggested improvements before final submission is accepted, giving the applicant the option to improve it. At that point If the applicant wants it submit as is, the Foundation will accept as is. In the case that the applicant decides to revise the application, that will create a new 7 day screening period.
Once an application is initially screened and an applicant is notified that their application has been accepted into the review process, xx Foundation will closely review the applications, potentially reaching out to the applicants for further information. The Foundation reviewers will independently provide their own assessment of the applications, typically within 2 weeks (14 business days).
Taking into consideration reviewer feedback, the Foundation will have 1 week (7 business days) from the end of the review stage to make a decision about the application.
In the decision, the Foundation will publicly announce the total award, the grant milestones, and the award schedule. It may differ from the requested amount, but the Foundation is expected to inform the applicant if they significantly diverge during the screening/review process.
The Foundation may accept, reject, or ask more questions about the application. If the Foundation asks more questions, the 7 days decision clock will restart once the applicant answers the questions.
If the Foundation rejects an application, it may provide feedback as to how it can be resubmitted at a later date with a higher chance of success.
The Foundation reserves the right to change this process at any time.
The Foundation reserves the right to disburse rewards at its discretion but it generally uses the following disbursement schedule:
50% will be awarded at completion with each milestone awarding an equal share of the remaining 50%
Applicants may suggest alternate schedules but should be prepared to provide reasoning for their schedules. All coins will be awarded with lockups (details to be determined by the foundation based on context of the project.).
There may be KYC/AML and residence requirements for reception of grants. Requirements are subject to change without notice.

]]>Today, the Foundation is excited to release the new xx network explorer that was announced last month. This is your one-stop shop for all things mainnet. It provides a comprehensive view of the xx network, including token economics metrics, staking information, and data on all on-chain transactions and events.

The goal of this explorer was to provide users with an easy-to-use interface to explore blockchain data and transaction information. We hope this explorer will grow based upon user feedback to better accommodate needs and give greater access to everything users want to be part of the xx network.
The explorer is backed by a database of all transactions on the xx network. This allows users to easily view their own transaction history as well as detailed information about all on-chain transactions.
The old explorer is sticking around to become the xx network wallet, and is still the tool for xx coin transfers and governance, staking, nominating, and validating transactions.

To assist with the application process, the Elixxir Team has prepared the xxDK, a sample iOS app (showing off shielded help) which talks to two types of sample servers (Standard Connection and Restlike)well as documentation on iOS implementations, and documentation on server implementations – with more coming.
The Grant Program is live and are ready to be awarded now.
The Elixxir team has put together the following RFPs which the Foundation is publishing as targets for this application program.
Private Communication – Apps designed to allow for private person to person communication
Private Social Media – Apps designed to allow people to interact socially while maintaining their privacy
Privacy Shielding – Apps designed to allow users to access the non private internet while maintaining their privacy
Cryptocurrency and Finance – Apps which allow users to interact with cryptocurrency or finance applications while maintaining their privacy. Currently, the Elixxir team is focused on integrating payments functionality into the xx messenger. The whitepaper can be found here.
Shielded Help Services– Apps designed to allow for private person to person communication (connected to back-end help desk that can guide you to ensure your safety and privacy). An RFP for a reference implication can be found here, but the Foundation is looking for projects which will provide services in the following areas:

Part of the xx Foundation initiative is the commitment of up to 10,000,000 xx coins to developers building privacy dApps on the xx network with integration into the xx messenger ecosystem. By integrating development, the over 50,000 xx users (and growing) will be able to immediately access a suite of communication tools all from their single, pseudonymous identity.
Developers are encouraged to put forth their own ideas for dApps that leverage the xx network’s unique technology. We’ve also outlined a number of initial concepts that fit well into the platform and are available for developers to apply for. Examples include a decentralized town square with twitter like functionality, a pirate radio app which allows users to privately broadcast to a subscribed audience, and a tunneling feature which allows any blockchain wallet and user to add metadata protection to their transactions by routing through the xx cMix layer, the most private and decentralized communications network in the world.
Interested developers should review the published guidelines here and submit a proposal for implementation. To assist with the application process, the cMix Team has prepared xxDK documentation as well as a technical definition for each concept. Members of the original xx network development team will be involved as advisors for these grants, providing support and advice as the projects progress as well as advising the Foundation on milestones. We can’t wait to see what new ideas you come up with and we look forward to joining you all in this exciting new phase of the xx network.
