Music, Magic & Social Media: How the Event Came to Be

A couple years ago, we got in touch with CXLDAF on Twitter after he tagged the team with a track he composed for AQWorlds. I played it on repeat for 2 days straight... then I reached out to him to see if he'd be interested in working together.

Last year, Caddeus saw an opportunity to weave CXLDAF's NPC, Wayrest into the fabric of Lore in a satisfying way... by answering a question many players have had for years: what happened to Discordia after the Mythsong Saga.

Fast forward to 2026, and we've got a special guest event featuring 3 of CXLDAF's tracks composed JUST for AQWorlds, the return of the classic Music Pirates, a host of rockin' new rewards, and here we are!

CXLDAF: The Producer Behind the NPC

My name is CXLDAF; I'm a music producer. And a farmer (IRL plants, not pixels).

My work has never been tied to one scene or genre. I have worked on hundreds (potentially thousands O_O) of projects, which have been played on radio, socials, Lofi Radio, editorial play, and indie video games. All together, they've garnered millions of streams.

But after a handful of years primarily focusing on lofi (both beats and production for artists) I’m branching more into the video game space.

I remember my friend showing me AQWorlds when I was 12 and I was hooked instantly. Around 15 years later and I have repeatedly returned to the game for grinds (pixels, not IRL plants), nostalgia and reconnecting with friends.

I remember being mind-blown by the soundtracks all those years ago, and I am beyond excited to preview my own music in the game today. I hope you enjoy what I've made for this event:

Wayrest's Journey: folk-ish lofi, inspired by a handful of 2000's mmorpg's. I attempted to lean more towards the folk inspiration rather than the lofi
Stiorra Skade: hints of medieval nostalgia yet leaning more into lofi, the melodies of an audiomancer balancing life with a new born & late nights in the studio (Resting beat)
Sigtryggr: I was going for a bardcore instrumental, but I ended up not liking it so I sampled and remixed it to create a Yulgars Inn style of beat ... I was unhappy with that, too, so I flipped and sampled it again. Somehow, I ended up at "Medieval Fantasy meets Lo-Fi" and i love the result

But but but... Why No Upgrade Bonus Pack?!

O_O If you've been with us for a while, you know that normally, the first week of each month we release a new upgrade bonus pack. But this is the month of April Fools in 2026 (a year like no other) and the universe decided it was going to one-up Twig for sketchy shenanigans. And then did it. Again.

That's why Tyronius (the artist who makes our upgrade packs) spent last week and part of this week trying to rebuild his computer instead of sending the new set.

Computer issues are never good, always messy, and the last thing we wanted was to pile on more stress while Tyronius was knee deep in a double-fried motherboard*** so last week, we told him to focus on repairs. This week, he was pushing to finish the set and the cutscenes for this week's story update.

By the time he finished the gear this week, it was too late to get it set up, tested, and rolled in time for tonight. But the art is done, so it will arrive next Friday.
