I've received a comment about the animation being too fast, so I'm replacing the original gif with the new slower version:

I'm also leaving here my own commentary from Mastodon, for additional context c:
It was created in hopes to remind of the importance of Alt texts, how it feels when you know something is present but can't access it

Added a new section to Cataminated page. Since I've uploaded bezel-less versions too, it became to cluttered with repetitive images, so now they'll have their own space.
I also need to figure out what to do with navigation because I feel like Buttons & Badges aren't accessible enough. It's a nice collection, featuring quite a few artists, it'd be nice to give it more visibility.

Another big button update! Almost finished uploading the local hoard.
[later] + added license explanation to Cataminated page c:
I added it in hopes to dispel some possible worries regarding how the attribution should be made, basically wanting to say: "just grab it and add somewhere a notice where it came from". I think it's important to link sources because I too would like to know who's behind all those cool button I've found elsewhere...

Been super busy uploading buttons carefully picked from the web. A big update!

Added Update Log to main page. Not sure how relevant is that. Let's see how it goes.
[later] + added 2 new sources for buttons & badges.
[later] + added a new section to Neighbours & Friends — "Cool websites worth taking a peek"
[later] + added a new About page, with a little backstory how Digital Garage originated.

Updated the cursor :3
You can find the source and list of other cursors in 🔩 Parts drawer[later that day] + as I'm rewriting CSS, I caught some issues with HTML so I'll be updating posts and pages to fix that.

Preparing for my first ever webring. Had to create the h-card. Wow. Tried not to make it too lame.

I've forgotten I have a thing like Update Log. In short: a few new pages added, mainly related to About page and Cataminated project. I also have my own buttons now ("my own" as in representing this blog), which is nice — maybe someone wants to be my neighbour.
Technical challenges I have to admit I'm facing:
- When I started this blog, I was adding design layers and elements with the mindset of "I just need to put everything together now and later I'll rewrite it". Well, the "later" is now and I'm already at the threshold of actually having to rewrite the code because it's getting exponentially messier and harder to efficiently edit elements CSS-wise.
- I wanted to add a custom cursor but I can only upload certain types of media to Bearblog. I need to do more research on whether I should simply convert it to .png or something, or upload it to the external repo on Codeberg. Fun fact: I've figured the solution just now, writing this paragraph, on the go. You can't convince me writing isn't a form of thinking in itself.

Added some buttons and badges to newly created Cataminated page. Made some design tweaks. Spend countless hours exploring badges and buttons via links from IndieWeb.org.

Updated the upvote button. Now you'll have a little bear dance as a treat, heheh.
Exploring tags and options how to display custom blocks and lists. Found lots of inspo and help in Sylvia's blog.

Voting poll results:
Topic: "What features are essential for a good writing software?"
Choice: up to 5 options
Results:"Vote group" looks weird because I could only place up to 4 options in one toot so I ended up with 4 toots, each with its own voted number
Feature Vote Group % People ✴️ Works offline 11 100 11 Built-in sync (cloud option) 11 9 1 ✴️ Autosave 11 55 6 Typewriter (last line is always mid-screen) 6 17 1 ✴️ Focus mode (hides all unnecessary elements) 6 50 3 ✴️ Spell-check 6 50 3 ✴️ Word count 6 83 5 Chapter management / folders 4 0 0 Character- / world-building tools 4 50 2 Works on multiple operating systems 4 25 1 Other (feel free to specify in comments) 4 25 1 Optional poll:

I really wanted to do it all CSS only but the more tables I add, the stronger urge I have for (at least) simple JavaScript. I find it really would be useful to have row + column highlight when hovering over a cell, what would make readability of values easier(?). It's completely optional, maybe even unnecessary but I would like to have that.
There's a way to do it with pure CSS but it's... cluttered a bit?
To-do:
[ducktape-fixed] Fix min/max table width on mobile screens
[ ] Column + row highlight
[ ] Separate list for apps/websites best suited for writing (no new options, maybe a few honourable mentions + more specs)
2026-02-12
Decided to make a separate list for manuscripts. At first, I thought of placing them all together under "Text editors" and then making a blog entry dedicated to best solutions for writers.
Reasons why I changed my mind are unknown even to me.
There's no way of making wide table preview convenient on small screens, pls, just use desktop.

Struggle of the day: column naming and general choice of necessary fields. Since I settled for reading-friendly page width, it limited the amount of columns I can add without distorting the view too much. On top of that, I didn't want it to be too cluttered; I'm planning on having separate dedicated lists with more explicit information so there's no need to include everything on main page.
