UPDATE: This is honestly pretty out of date right now, there is still good stuff here though. But a lot of good sites have been shut down, or I have removed things due to irrelevance. I need to do further pruning and adding of new things. Also I don't have the best categories for things to fit in any more.
SIMPLE LIVING & ANTI-CONSUMPTION
- The Simplicity Collective - Blog on living a "simpler life" that is void of consumerism; they call this "voluntary simplicity".
- mnemonics - Previously Offline Magazine, unfortunately a lot of the old posts are gone but there is some stuff back up now. Also some amazing photography
- wrongthink - Everything from off-grid living to schizo tech content, what isn't there to love.
- Dig Deeper - Site with some great articles on society, technology and privacy.
- Permacomputing Wiki - Complete reference on permacomputing.
- Canvas Tent Living - Blog from a man who lived in a canvas wall tent for three years.
- Forest Anon - A guy who spent multiple years living in a cabin built he constructed on public land.
- Early Retirement Extreme - Blog on extreme early retirement, this is an option for those who do not want to work for a majority of their lives.
HEALTH
- Do not drink alcohol - Paper on effects of alcohol consumption. (TLDR: The level of consumption that minimises health loss is zero). The American Cancer Society also recommends drinking zero alcohol.
- Get morning sunlight - Paper on effects of morning and night light viewing (TLDR: Improve circadian rhythm and mental health by viewing light in the morning and not at night).
- Don't trust U.S. dietary guidelines - Majority of members (95%) on the U.S. Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee have conflict of interest with companies such as Kraft and General Mills.
- Talon Fitness Youtube Channel - Excellent channel that goes over foods and micronutrients
NATURE & OFF-GRID
- Deadmen - YouTube channel run by a group of guys who built a log cabin in Alaska. Now Josh has dropped out and is uploading regularly. HIGHLY recommend.
- Gettin' Off Grid - YouTube channel run by Sean Paul who moved off-grid in Alaska. He is silly and doesn't take himself too seriously.
- Wild Homestead - YouTube channel run by James Alofs who moved off-grid in Canada. He is building multiple log cabins.
COMPUTING
- Low level memory - Series of articles that explain memory on a low level.
- How a CPU works - Series on how a CPU works. Everything from basics to processes/memory management on linux. Neat series.
- A Packets Journey - Neat site showing how packets travel.
