Inspiration
We imagined a futuristic world, where people did not have to talk to each other to know if they were somewhat compatible. Often you go to talk to someone you find attractive, but realize it's very difficult to find similar interests. With our use of hololens, you can already have a plan for talking to someone before talking to them. If their profile does not interest you, you do not have to waste your time.
What it does
Our project detects people's faces and then matches them to a profile. It prints their profile so you have ideas on what to talk to them about.
How I built it
We implemented online public repositories and apis. We edited them to fit our needs.
Challenges I ran into
- First time using Unity - long learning process. Hard to figure out face recognition and how to implement it in the hololens code.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We dipped our toes into Unity, and figured out how to detect faces and link them to a database. We made a lot of progress in the last 4 hours, which really made us happy since we persevered through adversity.
What I learned
We learned that often you need to split a large project into smaller chunks and easier tasks, and then expand to more complex features.
What's next for AR Tinder
We would like to have a wider database, and show the image with the profile, so you can see the person after sneakily taking a photo...
