Inspiration

We were inspired about the issues that trouble disabled individuals with accessing information.

What it does

Our project aims to make information easily seen by disabled people in a more enjoyable way. Our code drops a pin when loading in with a predetermined location in mind. With a single click you can access information about that location. With a double click you can access handicap emojis that show what is available.

How we built it

We built our project using Google Maps api, and the implementation of HTML/ Javascript coding.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenges that we ran into were the steep learning curves of Implementing API protocols, HTML/Javascript, Google Maps API, and Emojis. Since This is our first Hackathon the majority of our team only had limited knowledge of C++. The sleep depravation showed us the importance of keeping up good spirits even when the curve of wall is so steep. We fully implemented a search option but It did not accept with our previous code, and was left out for nowo-.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of getting our API to working properly when even the mentors / MLH teams could not answer our problems.

What we learned

Over the course of 24 hours we were able to learn the following: What an API is and how we are supposed to implement the google maps api What HTML was and how we could use our knowledge of a language none of us knew What Javascript was and how to even begin writing the syntax for it. We even learned how to put emojis into an HTML code!

What's next for Handymap

We wish to further our knowledge with google maps API and javascript so we can add more functions to our code with a more user-friendly experience.
