Inspiration

During these unprecedented times, we're looking for connection, and our desire to explore the world around has never been stronger now that we're stuck at home. We wanted to build an interactive platform that would allow you to do both.

What it does

Let us introduce "My Neighbourhood", a procedurally generated scaled replica of your neighbourhood where you can meet friends and soon-to-be friends to explore the real world around you while being in the safe comfort of your home. Find hidden treasures in the city, your next date spot, or a new route for your morning jog.

Using the Google Maps SDK, live data will be streamed into the environment, so you can experience the city exactly how it looks in real life. Proximity voice chat simulates the real world environment, and makes this experience much more interactive compared to messaging.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

This was the first time using Unity for all of us on the team, and using the Google Maps SDK for Unity was also a new experience. In 48 hours, we made a fully functioning game! We learned so much, and we're so proud of the final product.

What's next for My Neighbourhood
