Inspiration

Students are our future. Also, money is essential for us all. We love to spent money on different purposes or sometimes for any luxurious purposes. From our early age if we stay conscious about how we spent our money, later in our life we can be successful. This mindset gives us inspiration about how to help the students with their budget issues.

The goal is to help the students to maintain their monthly budget. Sometimes they don't set a target for spending money. So they end up spending a lot of money without their knowledge. Our system will help them in an interesting way to maintain their expense and income.

What it does

In our system students first have to open an account. After creating an account in our system they can share their monthly expense and income. Student can set their target budget for the month. When the target budget is set, students can see the progress of how much they spend in this month and how much they can spend in the remaining days. On the expense, page student can select their expense options and input their expense amount. The date is by default will be set as the current month. But if students want they can also enter previous months' expenses. The same functionality is available inside the income page. All their transactions will be shown on the statement page.

After sharing all the transitions student can now see their expenses in the pie chart. In the pie chart, they can see the percentage of expenses. Where they put their money most. The same thing goes for income. They can see income in the doughnut chart. There is also a bar chart where students can see the previous 4 months remaining balance. The difference between how much they earn in a month and the total cost will consider as the remaining balance. Which we believe will help them become more aware and parsimonious in their everyday life.

How we built it

The system is very simple and user-friendly. For the structure and design purpose HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap are used. For users interact with the web app JavaScript and Ajax are used. For server-side language and database PHP and MySQL database is used inside the web app.

Challenges we ran into

The Challenge was to make it as user-friendly as possible. Students not only can store current month transactions but also they can store previous month's transactions if they somehow forgot to input the data. Keep all the remaining balances of previous months was quite challenging. But we're happy that it worked out and effort is paid off when students can view and interact with the charts. The system is still involving. Hopefully, the system and the idea will become huge so that students all over the world can be benefited.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The test web app is launched. It is pleasure to see that the students like the system. They are using it every day. If they make any transaction in everyday life, they add the amount in the web app and try to see the result in charts. Some students are now eager to learn how they can earn money. I think the system is positively helping them a lot.

What we learned

What we've learned that nothing is small in the world. Even the simple things have a complex background story. But what unites people? A good story. It was really a good story to bring all the pieces and ideas together. It was a pleasure to see the system in complete and students are using it. Watching them using the system also helps us understand that we should do something for our young generation.

What's next for Student Wallet

Our next target is to make it a mobile app. So that the students can add their everyday transactions without any problems. We are using it on a free host site, for now later we will host in a specific domain. We want students all around the world to use our system and get benefited from it.

We are open to free suggestions. We want to increase more features in our systems and help our students better way. As they are the future.
