Getting Started

Onboard your courier organization on CHRT

This guide assumes you already have a CHRT account. If you do not, sign up at chrt.com/sign-up.

This guide walks you from first login through your first tracked delivery. Work through the steps in order; each one builds on the last.

1. Create your public profile

Open chrt.com/edit-profile and set your company handle (username), for example @chrt-logistics. That handle becomes your public page: anyone can visit chrt.com/@chrt-logistics (using your actual handle) to learn about your business and request a connection.

2. Invite your team and designate drivers

Invite operators, administrators, and drivers using the flow in Adding org members. Drivers are restricted to the driver mobile app and cannot use the web dashboard. However, members with the Operator or Administrator role can still be made “Drivers” in chrt (see below).

After someone is in your organization, they are not automatically a driver in CHRT. Go to chrt.com/settings/drivers and choose Make driver for each person who should drive. We recommend making yourself a driver first: install the driver app (step 8), assign yourself a demo order, and walk through the flow end to end before onboarding the rest of the fleet.

Install the app: search the App Store or Google Play for chrt inc, or use the download links on chrt.com/driver-app.

3. Add your shippers

You can work with shippers in two ways:

  • Off-platform shippers — At chrt.com/connections, open the Off-platform shippers tab and create shippers who place orders with you outside the CHRT web app (for example by email) and do not need a chrt.com login.
  • Shippers and Forwarders on CHRT — Share your public profile link (for example https://chrt.com/@chrt-logistics). They can connect with your organization from there and start placing orders through the shipper portal.

4. Configure rate sheets

Set up default rate sheets so quotes appear while orders are drafted:

  • Organization default — Applies when nothing more specific is set.
  • Per shipper — Defaults for each shipper, whether they are on CHRT or off-platform. You can set these defaults for each shipper by visiting their profile on the Connections tab.
  • Per driver — Defaults used when you assign a driver. You can set these defaults for each driver by visiting their profile on the Drivers tab.

How quotes use defaults: If a shipper has a default rate sheet, quoted revenue for that relationship uses it. Otherwise CHRT falls back to your org default. If no defaults exist, you will not see a quote until rates are defined.

When you assign a driver to an order, you can compare quoted cost across rate sheets; the default for that driver is preselected.

5. Set up notifications

Configure who hears what and how:

Create notification groups (for example Dispatch or Billing), then opt groups or individuals into email, SMS, or push for the events you care about.

6. Connect Stripe for payments

Complete Stripe Connect once for your organization. That enables you to collect payment by ACH, wire, card, and other methods from on-platform and off-platform shippers, and to create invoices and invoice links you can send directly.

7. Create an order and assign a driver

Follow Creating Orders to build a draft, add cargo and stops, and submit—then assign a driver. Assigning yourself first is the easiest way to see how notifications and handoffs behave before your team goes live.

8. Use the driver app and verify live tracking

Open the driver app, go to Settings, and enable Share location. Then open chrt.com/drivers/map in the browser and refresh — you should appear on the map when location sharing is on.

9. Other CHRT services: Trackers

CHRT trackers are professional-grade devices for temperature and location visibility. Many couriers sell tracker monitoring as a service to shippers or freight forwarders. For prerequisites, attaching devices to orders, standalone sessions, and sharing live maps, start with How to use our trackers.
