2025 CUSA MVP AND NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Cam Cook, Jax State,...Jacksonville State running back Cam Cook claims MVP and Newcomer of the Year honors, becoming the second-straight Gamecock to earn both awards (Tyler Huff). FIU running back Kejon O wens is the Offensive Player of the Year, while Kennesaw State's Baron Hopson and LA Tech's Jacob Fields share co-Defensive Player of the Year recognition. WKU's Cole Maynard and Rodney Tisdale Jr. are crowned CUSA's Special Teams Player and Freshman of the Year, respectively. Kennesaw State head coach Jerry Mack is tabbed the league's Coach of the Year.The FBS leader in rushing (131.8) and all-purpose yardage (153.67), Cook rushed for 1,581 yards and 15 touchdowns on 276 carries, while hauling i n 26 passes for 263 yards. He rushed for at least 100 yards and a touchdown and had a reception in every Conference USA game this season. Cook rushed for a season-best 218 yards and two touchdowns at Sam Houston and had 195 yards and two touchdowns in hi s CUSA debut against Liberty. Cook finished the regular season as the only player in FBS with 1,500 rushing yards and 20 receptions this season. Kaytron Allen ran for a career-high 226 yards and a touchdown as Penn State beat Rutgers 40-36 for the 18th straight time to become bowl eligible after a tumultuous season. The Nittany Lions (6-6, 3-6 Big Ten) retook the lead for good when linebacker Ama re Campbell raced 61-yards with a fumble with 7:27 to play. Rutgers quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis lost the ball without being touched. Rutgers (5-7, 2-7 Big Ten) had moved ahead 36-33 early in the fourth quarter on a 46-yard TD pass from Kaliakmanis to A ntwan Raymond. Raymond ran for 189 yards and Kaliakmanis passed for 338 yards and three TDs. There were four lead changes in the second half. Rutgers turned the ball over on downs with 3:55 to go when Kaliakmanis lost a yard on fourth-and-1 on the Penn S tate 27-yard-line on a read-option play. "One of the things we learned tonight was how to end the game on our terms," said Penn State interim coach Terry Smith. "The defense struggled all night. It was not pretty, but they figured out a way. That's footb all. "We ended the game on our terms." Rutgers lost three of its last four games, giving up at least 35 points in all of them. Campbell led Penn State with 14 tackles. "He (Campbell) deserves a lot of credit, and he plays really hard," said Smith. "He is very productive, solid, and consistent. I don't know what we would do without him. He is a stable piece in the middle for us. Just a tremendous effort tonight." Penn State hasn't missed a bowl game since 2020 when the non-College Football Playoff bowl g ames were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.After losing to Notre Dame in the semifinals of the CFP last season, the expectations for Penn State were high. The Nittany Lions began the season ranked No. 2 and were led by quarterback Drew Allar, who was headed for a Heisman-caliber season before a season-ending leg injury in Week Six against Northwestern. The following day coach James Franklin was fired after Penn State lost its first three Big Ten games, including back-to-back games in which t he Nittany Lions were favored by 20-plus points. Penn State would lose six straight before turning its season around by winning its last three games. 2025 CAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Rhode Island senior linebacker A.J. Pena capped a record-setting career with a stellar senior season. The Rams' linebacker recorded 61 total tackles and led the CAA and ranked sixth in FCS with 17.5 tackle s for loss. His 9.5 sacks were tied for second in the conference, and he added 11 quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. Pena helped the Rams lead the CAA and rank in the top 20 nationally in total defense (312.4 ypg) and scoring defense (19.2 ppg). Virginia starting linebacker Kam Robinson will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL against Duke earlier this month. Coach Tony Elliott made the announcement Tuesday at his weekly news conference. Virginia, ranked 17 in the College Football Playoff rankings, plays Virginia Tech on Saturday, and a win gets the Cavaliers into the ACC championship game. Robinson emerged as the best player on the Virginia defense despite missing the first three games of the season with a collarbone injury. He h as two interception returns for touchdowns - including one to seal a win at Cal - and his game-winning safety with the score tied and three minutes left against Washington State helped Virginia win 22-20. Notre Dame will be without key linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa for the remainder of the season after he suffered a left knee injury in Saturday's 70-7 win against Syracuse. Viliamu-Asa was hurt late in the first half against the Orange and didn't return in the second half. The sophomore from Inland Empire, California, is second on the team with 7.5 tackles for loss to go with 48 total tackles, 3 sacks, 5 quarterback hurries and an interception in 11 games. The No. 5 outside linebacker prospect in the 2 024 SC Next rankings, Viliamu-Asa started one game as a freshman in 2024 and two more this season. He had a career-high nine tackles and two tackles for loss in a 25-10 win at Boston College on Nov. 1. The Irish also announced that reserve cornerback Cha nce Tucker will miss the rest of the season with a left tibia injury. He had played in four games this season. Portland State fired football coach Bruce Barnum and his staff Saturday night, hours after the Vikings finished the season with a 24-13 loss at Northern Colorado. Athletic director Matt Billings made the announcement after speaking to the team. The Vikin gs lost their last three games to finish 1-11 overall and 1-7 in the Big Sky Conference. In 11 seasons at Portland State, the 61-year-old Barnum was 39-75 overall and 29-51 in the conference. He had his only winning season in 2015, going 9-3 overall and 6-2 in the Big Sky. - AP College Football

UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava left Saturday night's 48-14 loss to Washington after being sacked and hurt in the third quarter. The Tennessee transfer was sacked for a 15-yard loss at the UCLA 25-yard line by Bryce Butler at 8:44, with the Bruins traili ng 27-0. After lying on his back, Iamaleava got up and walked off the Rose Bowl field under his own power and entered a blue tent behind the Bruins' bench. Last week, Iamaleava missed UCLA's 48-10 loss at No. 1 Ohio State while he was in concussion proto col. He initially got hurt in a loss to Nebraska on Nov. 8. "Not completely sure," interim coach Tim Skipper said when asked if Iamaleava had suffered a concussion. "He was talking when we went out there, but when he came out, he went into the tent, then came into the locker room. We'll get an update as we go, but that's all I really know." Iamaleava was 16-of-26 for 69 yards and no touchdowns before getting hurt and also ran for 16 yards on five carries. He was replaced by sophomore Luke Duncan, who st arted in Iamaleava's place at Ohio State, Duncan was 5-of-11 for 81 yards and a touchdown on Saturday. ESPN College Football
