What changes are you trying to make? (e.g. Adding or removing code, refactoring existing code, adding reports)
Using the code base provided in the assignment, I created an "anagram_checker" function that determines whether two text strings are anagrams of each other while ignoring letter case. I further modified this function to add an option that allowed users to specify whether letter case should or should not be taken into account using an if/else statement.
What did you learn from the changes you have made?
I learned how to create a basic function in python that can be stored and reused as needed. I also learned how to incorporate if/else statements into my code to account for specific conditions when executing commands.
Was there another approach you were thinking about making? If so, what approach(es) were you thinking of?
The only other approach that I considered was using the string.lower() command rather than the string.upper() command. Ultimately it was an arbitrary decision and I went with the string.upper() command.
Were there any challenges? If so, what issue(s) did you face? How did you overcome it?
I faced no major challenges.
How were these changes tested?
I tested the two anagram_checkers using the words provided in the assignment and the expected outcomes. All my outcomes matched the expectations indicating that my function was working as designed. I also checked my function on a few other strings (versions of my name) to ensure that it worked on strings outside of what had been provided to us.
