too early, MPI family is still unknown at this point, since the toolchain is not prepared yet
move to configure_step, do this before the super call?

PBD is a set of tools for R for Parallel Big Data processing in R. This will be a great enhancement for EasyBuild since we have quite a few users with R code that they want to scale.
