CS at the University of Rochester, focused on systems engineering, security, and AI. These days I spend most of my time arguing with stochastic parrots.
Microsoft: I built testing infrastructure for M365 Substrate, the exabyte-scale distributed storage layer that powers Teams, Exchange, and SharePoint.
Chainguard: I worked on secrets detection pipelines for container images and automated CVE triage and patching for Wolfi, a distroless Linux distribution designed for minimal attack surface. This involved building tooling to scan packages for leaked credentials and integrate vulnerability data into the build system. During my time there, the company raised its $140M Series C led by Redpoint Ventures, with participation from Sequoia, Spark Capital, and Amplify.
Flatcar Linux: I replaced the deprecated Torcx addon system with systemd-sysext, enabling runtime-composable OS extensions while preserving immutability guarantees. This was with the Kinvolk team, which was later acquired by Microsoft.
Research: I published a paper at IEEE on ML-based security policy analysis and contributed literate executable support to GNU Screen.
I organize a speaker series at Rochester, bringing technologists to campus. Past speakers include:
- Steve Furber: Principal designer of the ARM processor and BBC Micro, Fellow of the Royal Society, and recipient of the Draper Prize alongside Hennessy and Patterson for pioneering RISC architecture
- Ryan Mac: Tech reporter at The New York Times covering wealth and power in Silicon Valley, Polk Award winner, and co-author of Character Limit on the Musk-Twitter takeover
- Jack Sweeney: Creator of @ElonJet and founder of Ground Control, building flight tracking tools using public ADS-B data
- Dr. Telle Whitney: Co-founder of the Grace Hopper Celebration alongside Anita Borg and former CEO of AnitaB.org, where she grew the conference from 500 attendees to over 15,000
- Dr. Vivienne Ming: Theoretical neuroscientist and founder of Socos Labs, named to BBC 100 Women and Inc.'s 10 Women to Watch in Tech
- Jessica Theodat: Senior SRE and Security Tech Lead at Google, first Black woman SRE at the company
- Kurt Wagner: Tech reporter at Bloomberg covering social media and author of Battle for the Bird on Twitter
- Phoebe Gates: Co-founder of Phia, an AI shopping assistant that raised $35M from Kleiner Perkins and Khosla Ventures
