👩🏻🔬 My name is Melanie Cheung See Kit and I am an academic researcher with 4 years of experience in generating and analyzing complex chemical datasets to extract insights for scientific publications, now looking to transition into a data analyst role within the pharmaceutical industry.
🧪 🔬 I received my PhD in Chemistry at the University of Michigan and my thesis focused on studying the cellular functions of an enzyme family using various biochemical and analytical methods. As a postdoctoral research fellow at Indiana University Indianapolis, I gained more hands-on experience with mass spectrometry instrumentation. There, I combined mass spectrometry and chemical labeling techniques to study protein structure and worked in a small multidisciplinary team, successfully leading research studies, which were essential in securing federal grants.
👩🏻💻 I initially used Python to optimize some data processing steps in my research, which sparked my deeper interest in leveraging data science.
