BlinkBlink is a desktop app designed to help you follow the 20·20·20 rule, encouraging regular breaks to protect your eyes and boost productivity. After dealing with dry eyes and eye strain for what felt like forever, I finally created BlinkBlink to help myself and others avoid the same discomfort. It runs seamlessly in the background with a simple, clean interface, making it effortless to maintain healthy screen habits.

-
Phew, done! Click on BlinkBlink, and it should now be running in your menu bar! 🎉
Mac users, I’m sorry you’ll need to take these extra steps to get the app running. Basically, Apple requires developers to pay an annual fee of $99 to avoid these annoying security warnings. If we don’t pay, they make it harder for users to install apps, even when they’re perfectly safe. 😞 But don’t worry, I guarantee the extra step is totally worth it!
- Once installed, BlinkBlink will run in the background and automatically remind you to take regular breaks.
- You can access the dashboard to view your streaks, messages, and stats by clicking on the app icon in your system tray/menu bar.
- To adjust the work/break intervals, open the settings page by selecting "Preferences" from the app menu.
BlinkBlink includes an auto-update feature, so you’ll always have the latest version with the newest features and bug fixes. The app will notify you when a new update is available and allow you to install it without needing to visit the website.
BlinkBlink believes in focusing on what truly matters, so every detail is thoughtfully designed with your well-being in mind. With that philosophy guiding us, here are a few exciting features on our roadmap:
-
Winky's Gentle Reminder: Prefer a less intrusive interface than a full-screen overlay? No worries! Winky
, our cute monster, will warmly remind you from the corner of your screen to take a break and protect your eyes. How cute is that! -
Sound/Alert Options: Let you choose between a subtle sound, vibration, or visual cue for the reminder, depending on your preference.
And more constant polishing. The devil’s in the details!
