Thanks for the contribution, Jordan. I've rebased this work conceptually, separated it into two replacement PRs, and made some corrections based on the current codebase and Serverless/AWS docs:

In cases where there is a monorepo and there are shared resources between the composed services, it's a nightmare not being able to invoke and deploy individual functions so, I thought I'd just do that. Code style is different to what I'm used to so if there's stuff here to change, happy to do so.
