Nice V, Vol. 4: Live Microtonal

Greetings patrons of the great kglw.net. My name is Chase (or yoshigem if you only know me online) and I am bringing you the fourth entry into the Nice V monthly column, where contributors to the site highlight five tracks, performances, or anything else from the wider King Gizzard world in hopes of bringing delight to your lovely lives. This entry will be entirely dedicated to some of my favorite performances of King Gizzard’s microtonal music from the past few years.

KGWL.net: Making New Memories Update
Man on mountaintop with arms raised, smiling Joey in background

While 2026 is looking to be a somewhat slower year for King Gizzard with a handful of U.S. shows and some dates in Australia, we at KGLW.net have been hard at work on some big updates across our site. There’s changes across the board, from our setlist database to our social media accounts, and we’re excited to give you a sneak peek at what’s to come this year!

In Orbit: the Effects Of Hawkwind’s Gravity on King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard
Gizzverse characters and symbols in the style of Hawkwind's Masters of the Universe cover art

Spacedate 200023.006.013, System: Sol, Planet: Earth (Chicago, Illinois, United States of America). For the third day running, this swarm of friendly yet frenzied hominids has gathered in the chilly rain to scratch their collective sonic itch with a traveling group of musicians known as King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. As you stand apart, observing that the inhospitable conditions of this planet seem to have little effect on the bipedal celebrants as they line up before the performance to barter for a foamy, grain-based potion known as "beer," familiar words ring out from a nearby amplification device, sending a shock through your cortex...

Nice V, Vol. 3: Bullant

Of all of the amazing non-Gizzard projects, I think Bullant is the one that surprises me the most. The house/techno project of Joey, Bullant has given us two studio albums, eight non-album singles, and two short films done in collaboration with PHC Films so far. It’s a project that has always been grounded in reality with an unflattering look at the seedy side of Melbourne life. Drugs, violence, sex.

Pushing Boundaries — and Song Lengths: the Fall '25 Rave Shows, By the Numbers
KGLW raving on stage with awesome lights

Join KGLW.net's own BetweenTheEars as he breaks down the Fall 2025 Rave statistics from Europe, gig by gig, song by song, jam by jam!

In fall 2025, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s long-simmering romance with electronic music culminated in the debut of an entirely new performance format: a series of ten fully electronic, improvisation-heavy “rave shows” spanning two continents and 22 days. Launching on 10/24/25 in Melbourne, Australia and continuing with nine more shows across Europe, the rave series dropped nearly 24 hours of electronic madness for the fanbase to digest (23 hours and 13 minutes, to be specific!).

Nice V, Vol. 2: Top 5 "Deviant Arrangments" From August 2025
Nice V Vol. 2 logo with white bear sipping on a drink (image by Billabong Valley Bootleg)

Hey everyone, it’s your friendly neighborhood setlist nerd @thefourthcolour here with the second installment of the King Gizzette’s monthly Nice V column. Once a month, one of the amazing volunteers from our site will put together five Gizz tracks/shows/whatever (perhaps tangentially related, perhaps not) and write about them. With that said, off we go. My five selections fall under a common theme of August 2025 live performances: songs in a non-“standard” or deviant arrangement from their basic studio form. If that doesn’t make sense, hopefully it will after reading!

KGLW.net Interview on JEMP Radio
psychedelic image of rhombuses

Curious about the origin of KGLW.net, how we built the site, and how it's run? Our site's founder, Justin Mando, was interviewed on JEMP Radio's The Rhombus Connection hosted by Julia Shuster on January 27th. Each show features a guest who curates a playlist of live tracks. Listen to the interview, learn about our site, and find out which Gizz shows Justin picked.

2025 Gizzies — Second Annual KGLW.net Awards
The Gizzies trophy image! depicting a golden gator holding aloft a golden nonagon, standing on a plinth with a plaque reading 'The Gizzies' (image by greylocke)

Welcome to the second annual KGLW.net Gizzies!

This year we’ll be releasing the results in a set of five batches over the next five days, all on this very page, so keep your eyes peeled!

2025 was a big year for King Gizzard! While things were quiet on the album front with only one major release, their touring schedule was wild with a second residency tour in Europe, a North American orchestral tour, the band’s inaugural Field of Vision festival, a return to Europe for a split rave/orchestral tour, and the first Australian tour in a few good years! So much happened that we can’t put it all here, but thankfully we have a way of figuring out the cream of the crop. Last year we did our inaugural Gizzies, an end-of-year retrospective trying to find the best of the best. This was a lot of fun to put together and it created a lot of discussion. With that response, a second installment was inevitable. Instead of doing a repeat of last year, however, we’ve made some big changes!

Nice V, Vol.1 : Top 5 From PALP Festival (August 14, 2023 in Bagnes, Switzerland)
PALP '23 poster with lineup of artists

Hey everybody, Rowdy here. We’re trying a new monthly column (Nice V!) where a different site team member rounds up some notable, favorite, or just downright awesome tracks (or shows or albums, etc.) for your listening pleasure. We’ll share what we love about the music and unearth some hidden gems (which can all be found on our very own Gizztapes.)

This month, I’m building a top five from a specific show I come back to easily once a week; probably safe to call it my favorite show I haven't attended. I’m definitely revealing my psych rock lean here but King Gizzard's performance from PALP Festival 2023 is just so dense with great moments.
