Hi everyone!
I succesfully installed Kodi on an Intel NUC7i3DNK2E running Pop!_OS . All my movies are on an external USB hard drive which automounts on startup.
Everything worked perfectly at the beginning and I managed to succesfully create my movie library.
Once I restarted, I started getting the error “One or more items failed to play. Check the log for more information about this message”.
I tried to check the error log, but it’s empty.
The weird thing is that I can still play the movies, but only by going into the video section of Kodi and browsing to the file where they are.
I’ve searched online and I’ve mostly found people getting that error with cache related stuff. Since I can still play the movies, but not directly from the movie library place, it seems my problem is different and probably related to the fact that the movies are on an external hard drive.
I also wanted to add that I had defined a place for my family pictures and the problem is the same. I can’t directly access them through the shortcut I had created, but I can still display them if I use Kodi to browse in the hard drive.
Of course, all of these things also work if I use the OS file explorer, but I’d just want to have the niceties of the library part of Kodi (actors, trailers, covers, etc…).
I hope I was clear enough in my explanation and I’m thankful for any help in advance!
I’m excited about having an impressive digital library with all the blurays/dvds I’ve bought and ripped over the years!

I’m glad you were able to figure it out, and yeah to be honest the error message is very vague
