They said it’s “threatening violence”, breaking Rule 1

The left: Maybe we have to do violence?

    Liberals: How dare you!

Nazis: We already did some violence, it was awesome. We’re going to hint at doing more every way we can think of, but stop short of explicitly and unconditionally promising to

Liberals: Well they already did it, so let’s put it behind us.

Are you insinuating it’s not the right wing influence on reddit causing this, but rather the “wrong” kind of left wing …? Lemmy is weird.

There is a trend on this platform for people to be just as mad at center-left people as the fuckin actual Nazis. And it’s counterproductive as fuck

Nazis aren’t going to change, they have to be defeated. You defeat them by changing the liberals.

I’m referring to a sentiment I see all over lemmy quite often. I don’t think you get to dismiss all those cases are politely pointing it out. Plenty of other users here notice it too, and point out how counter productive it is. I mean even just the term “liberal” is seen as a proxy for evil here. My guess is that plenty of “liberal” people don’t even conform to the views they are presumed to hold, and plenty of “liberals” are very much on board with most of the same leftist ideas as the ones claiming ideological purity over the liberals. The biggest difference is that some of the purists may know more history than some of the people they hate and claim are the problem.

Liberals are not center-left, and the reason why that’s important to recognize is because in the struggle between socialism and capitalism, liberals by definition side with capitalism. Historically, liberals have sided with fascists over leftists, because leftists affirm systemic change.

Cause isn’t so simple. One enables the other.

Look at how neo-Nazis abuse liberalist values to demand a protected platform. “Tolerance”, “free speech”, “anti-violence”, you know they don’t believe in these but they’ll always demand it from you.

Yep. I picked up 2 temp bans, a sub permanent ban, and then a total ban after 16 years once Reddit went public. All of that in two months. I haven’t changed but the world sure did. One of them was me showing the medical gear you should carry to attend the first No Kings rally. I was “inciting violence” and got banned from my cities /r

Better here anyways. I just needed a push.

I got bans for checks notes using an anonymizer and deleting an account, then on a new account being told I broke rules for using an anonymizer on a linked account and getting sitewide banned for it because I was “evading bans.”

Can’t wait to anonymize my new throwaway and then request deletion through the california privacy law enabling it.

I wish there was a browser addon which would create bogus ai slop comments and just save them as drafts.

Admittedly I wish this was built into RES and just happened randomly across reddit. The ai misinformation war needs to start to punish the companies selling user data imo.

My very first suspension was agreeing that it is always okay to punch a Nazi. That’s how I first found out that there is some controversy about intolerance of Nazis.

Welcome to the club. I said, “Remember, if you see a Nazi, punch a Nazi.”, as a play on if you see something, say something.

I decided not being able to comment or post is not a big loss, but I do still read over there.

The person you responded to is a liar though. No one was sympathizing with Nazis in any way and they came in telling people to kill themselves. They were banned completely justifiably.

You would definitely say that. You haven’t ever suffered from the failure that is humanizing fascists. Humanzing them is sympathizing with them. They choose to not be human. Heck theyre proud to not be human.

It’s more insulting to them to call them human, as that implies youre on the same thing as them, something they objectively do not believe.

This is so stupid I don’t even know where to begin. Dehumanization is what leads to disgusting cruelty like Nazis engage in.

You do realize it’s possible to support the execution of Nazis and still think they are humans? Such a bizarre world in which that would ever need to be said out loud.

No, I personally do not think we should execute humans under any circumstance. However fascists are not human.

They, again, choose not to be. And as the paradox of intolerance states, we cant really accept them in human communities.

Dehumanization is something they voluntarily did to themselves. You cant even say they were tricked or duped into it. We’re in the information age. Practically all adults in the us have made it past 8th grade. They chose to believe they weren’t human like us. I’m simply honoring their wishes and beliefs.

This is just a semantic trick you think you can use to stay holier than thou and also kill people who deserve it. Doesn’t work that way. Humans can only become not human by dying and becoming dust again. Semantic tricks don’t change that. I sense this conversation will go even more poorly from here so I’m blocking you for my mental health.

I mean, it is. A punch is a violent action.

And reddit has never ever been shy about enforcing sitewide rules inconsistently. I have no idea why people act all shocked and offended by this shit, it’s why there’s so damn many reddit clones and has been happening for over a fucking decade.

Beyond that, please for the love of all that is good, SHUT THE FUCK UP ONLINE. Go get involved with your local groups and stop incriminating yourself.

Go read up on proper goddamn opsec. Regularly shuffle your online identities and the identifying info connected to them. Learn where the tracking cameras are in your area and routes to avoid them. Ways to spot and shake tails. Ways to discretely shift your appearance so you don’t get picked up wearing the same fucking coat. The tactics that feds and pigs use against resistance movements, how to spot them. How to do first aid and care for allies. Learn your local allies so you recognize newcomers (and potential infiltration).

And stop doing this performative “I’m so tough/hard” shit online. Save the effort for real fucking action. Go do it, and do it in a way that you won’t be the first obvious fucking suspect.

As for me? This online identity is already burned, and my risk profile is not the same as yours, oh valiant nazi puncher. Let those fists swing, but make sure they don’t see it coming.
