7·21 hours agoAdd it to the miles long list of times that prohibition has failed. You’d think that with all the time they spend coming up with laws, lawmakers would take 10 minutes to look at how well similar laws have done elsewhere.
But that’d require research and real critical thought, which seems to be sorely lacking among those who seek power.

531·1 day agoI appreciate them. The unhinged and horny demographic has far too much male representation. The ladies go a little crotch crazy sometimes too.
Plus they are normally funny.
Oh awesome, I didn’t even think about the physical mechanism of their feather movement! This is really neat!
Thanks! Please don’t take them as gospel though, I am also a relative novice lol. I just adore tufted titmice (mouses?), and have spent a lot of time watching them and cardinals at my feeder 😁
I think it’s just a form of signaling, at least in how I’ve seen it being used. Typically I see the tuft pop up when they are curious about something or want to appear bigger to other nearby birds.
They’re like cardinals, they can control the tuft. This little one just had theirs down.
The easy way to tell the difference is the brown-red belly and the fact that indigo buntings are electric blue. You know a bunting when you say “holy shit, that’s the bluest bird I’ve ever seen”.

Dullsters@dullsters.net•I mended my fence and gate almost entirely with used screws
19·3 days agoSome of those are probably interior screws. I’d replace them if they start rusting to avoid getting rust streaks in the wood, if that matters to you. Way to reuse/recycle!
