We had a thread about this question. IMHO, the closest thing to a revolutionary masculinity is heroism, or more specifically, a martial heroism where a man fights and dies on behalf of a noble cause. This is operating under the assumption that revolutionary masculinity is contradictory and transitory towards a truly revolutionary conception of gender. In more plain words, if you want to be a macho tough guy, then do the ultimate macho tough guy of picking up a rifle and charging the foxhole with bayonets fixed.

My Debian desktop is boring as fuck (It’s just the default KDE Plasma desktop with a few files because as a Linux user, we don’t believe in desktop shortcuts), but some old Macbook that I have lying around is pretty interesting:

• The Disco Elysium stuff is just me trying to install Disco Elysium on MacOS using Wine. It didn’t work out.

• I was able to install Diablo II, Grim Dawn, and Notepad++ on MacOS. Notepad++ wasn’t able to save files though. You basically could only open files.

• WineBottlerCombo was just me trying to mess around with Wine. In the end, I just used PlayOnMac, which is even more out of date than PlayOnLinux.

• The stuff at the top was me trying to mess around with Diablo II data files. I wanted to see if you could have skill trees from different classes like in Grim Dawn. In the end, I was able to get a paladin with the necro summons tree, the druid summon tree, and shadow disciplines for the shadow master. The funny thing was every time the paladin tried to summon skeletons, he would take damage. And I’m not talking about taking damage like sacrifice, but the paladin would go into hit animation. My headcanon is that the paladin was a fallen paladin or something.

• There’s an awkward space at the right of the screen because I accidentally dropped the laptop the previous owner took poor care of the Macbook, so I can’t see anything in that column of space. For Kaepernick, he is just not good enough at his sport to truly make an impact like Ali or Maradona. I think there might have been career sabotage as well to make sure he would never be good enough at his sport for people to look up to. Meanwhile, someone who could actually be considered a GOAT in American football like Tom Brady is some reactionary Trump supporter. In general, a lot of American star athletes tend to not have any ideology outside of some grinding hustle bullshit. You see this in people like Kobe. I don’t think there’s any NBA star with good politics except maybe for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was politically adjacent to Ali and has apparently penned articles in Jacobin before. There’s also Magic for his HIV advocacy. Meanwhile, Lebron broke the NBA strike in 2020.

It’s entirely by design. The feds saw the impact a Muhammad Ali or a Diego Maradona had and have taken all steps to make sure that won’t happen again. I think Nipsey even started flirting with Pan-Africanism right before his death.

Nipsey was a lesser Tupac, but this goes to show that the feds are very proactive. He might be a lesser Tupac at the time of his sus death, but the feds don’t want to take any chances.

I think the only way to tap into machismo while inheriting as little of its problematic baggage as possible is through martial prowess, which includes the willingness to fight and die on behalf of a noble cause. This means understanding that young people seek heroes and heroism that’s completely absent in their lives, and through the framework of cisheteronormative masculinity, an average cishet young man will see a male hero as a warrior on a noble mission.

Castro and Che were super charismatic and a man’s man, but they were also brave heroes who took up arms in order to overthrow Batista. You could extend this to someone like Tito who took up arms against fascists as a Partisan, fulfilling his duty to humanity by personally sending at least 10 fascists to hell. The Panthers looked cool as fuck, but they also killed pigs and were hunted down by the feds for being cop killers.

The modern equivalent of Che is basically Abu Obaida. I’ve seen so many photos of Arab boys dressing up as him on Twitter. Everyone fighting the Zionist occupation from Hamas to Hezbollah to Ansarallah is a hero, a fighter, and a warrior. And I have no doubt in my mind that people who were on the fence are converting to Islam because of their heroism. Hell, I’ve even seen people on Twitter claim to have converted from Sunni to Shia because of them. This is what we need.

But as that Iranian DJ(?) said, the West doesn’t have heroes. Who’s the Western equivalent of Obaida or anyone in Al-Qassam? For the US, the closest people who rise to the level of heroes are Indigenous water protectors, who are typically Indigenous women. But the men? The West doesn’t have heroic men to set a good example for other men, which means young men are more easily swayed by some reactionary fascist bullshit. Fascism preys on their desire for heroism in their lives. It’s a common fascist talking point to say that modern men have their potential for heroism and greatness suppressed by the [slurs], who force them to live a life of mediocrity.

The last male hero for the US at least was probably Tupac. He was related to Panthers, joining the Young Communist League as a teenager. Besides his career as a rapper, he also was starting to get into acting before he got murdered, and he was a charismatic dude in general. Tupac also shot at a bunch of pigs harassing a dude and somehow was able to escape jail time. He was a larger-than-life figure. A book I was starting to read before Al-Aqsa Flood happened argued that Tupac was assassinated by the feds precisely because he was a leftist heroic figure who had enough charisma and street cred to unite multiple demographics who otherwise would have nothing to do with each other. Like, fucking George Lucas wanted Tupac to be cast as Mace Windu and only casted Samuel L Jackson after Tupac was murdered.

I am not wasting the 5 joules of energy expended to bubble in the US presidential candidate because I, like the majority of people in this country, don’t live in a swing state. His basic argument is not that the DPP has their hands tied up politically, but that the DPP itself is also de facto status quo. He predicts the soon-to-be president will make a lot of pro-independence noise at the beginning of his term only to cash out his pro-independence cred on an economic deal with the PRC since Taiwan’s economy is completely stagnant.

Personally, it feels like one of those “famous last words” type of deal. His argument is convincing, especially since he’s serving his conscription duties in Taiwan and has his finger on the pulse of Taiwanese conscripts who 100% don’t want to fight and know they’ll get owned by the PLA, but you never know.

I also think that the most likely candidate for a proxy war with China in the eastern theatre is Korea. Not Taiwan. Taiwan can not be supplied and China has every geographical advantage. That’s not the case with Korea.

I need to type up a short summary of the interview because although the interview is good, I think many people will have misgivings about having to listen to some patsoc who malded hard over Canadian nudists.

To wrap this up with Korea, I think the DPRK has made the calculation that reunification is not possible through peaceful means and is taking all appropriate action towards reunification through other means. As Carl Zha and the rapper explained, peaceful reunification is possible for China because the PRC’s economy completely dwarfs Taiwan and the PRC can employ both economic carrots and sticks to pull Taiwan closer to the Mainland until a de facto 1c2s relationship emerges. The DPRK does not have the economic carrots and sticks to reunify Korea, so while the carrot is the common cultural identity of Korean, the stick, well, we all know what the stick is.

The main prerequisite is your domestic treats need to be superior to US treats. Even Parenti mentions this in Blackshirts and Reds. As long as your domestic film/shows/music/games/cars/electrical appliances/software applications/social media are either noticeably inferior to the US version, just dubs for the case of US film and shows, or worst of all, missing altogether, US soft power will still hold sway. Compare that with Chinese people snubbing that shitty live-action Mulan film. From their POV, Mulan is the shitty bootleg of a wuxia film. Why waste time watching a shitty bootleg inferior product when you could easily get the real deal?
