  • Tepid take: The only people calling Steam a monopoly are the loser competitors who can’t find a more extortive business model that will actually compete in their quest to syphon wealth out of the gaming ecosystem. Also ‘news’ outlets that are being paid to assert this narrative, and dumbshit reactionaries who believe those narratives. Sorry Epic CEO, you can’t cry and shit your pants into forcing a successful company to make room and give you a cut. The market will ony respond to a better product here, and Epic ain’t it. EA learned this lesson with their shit-ass Origin product years ago, brand loyalty takes a long time to build and is a powerful variable, and steam is good at not fucking with the gamers, or at least only within parameters of acceptability, it appears.

  • Cool, but you see how that’s still a deep condemnation of tRump and the Whitehouse admin for letting that happen right? There’s no letting either of those greedy soulless criminals throw the other under the bus, they’re both getting run over or justice isn’t real. This also goes for politicans who have enabled this regime and the corrupt memebers of the US supreme court who made this all possible. This IS a rico case whether people want to admit it or not, the alternative is pretending like it was all this one guy and letting the Republicans slink into the shadows to play nice and bide their time for another 40 years. Prosecution and jail terms are the ONLY way to even pretend to still mantain a representative democracy and justice system.

  • I think there’s blame enough to fall on both neglectful parents and an irresponsible behemoth of a company that absolutely can afford to invest in preventing this shit, but chooses not to because profits, of which there can never be enough, no matter how many children must be fed into the wood chipper.
I’m a bit tired of people completely ignoring the company’s responsibilities in the profit making agreement with societies. We can absolutely make them do better, even if they squeal and whine about losing some tiny fraction of a percentile of infinite growth, which they will, every single time. Regulation has always been this way, cause you can’t always blame the people/users for not knowing better, it won’t stop people from being harmed which at the end of the day is the issue regardless of who is 100% at fault. That’s while ignoring the hundreds of millions of dollars invested by that company specifically into making the product as addictive as imaginably possible, which I’d argue changes the dynamic quite a lot.

  • I’ll assume you don’t know cause it’s a common format and was very popular for years, but it depicts a guy who made a fortune going to college campuses to demand people change his mind on topics in bad faith so he could berate and harass college students and espouse bigoted viewpoints as an allegedly intellectual adult man. He also was abusive toward his pregnant wife and is a nepo-baby who flaunts his privilege explicitly to troll. If this is someone you knowingly want to bring attention to I advise you reflect on your own beliefs and understanding of what society is because he’s wrong and an asshole.
