  • I forwarded to someone I know who loves fighting style games, and has experience developing games. It sounds like a lot of people are willing to help with a varying level of topics.

My recommendation would be now to try to orchestrate everyone. If someone is offering help with artwork for example, have something they can work on; you may be able to get a full 3D model game if enough interest, I agree though that initially scoping for pixel art is a safe bet (maybe pixel art vs 3d model depends on device capabilities, or is an option you can toggle between). Make it collaborative so if multiple people for example have ideas about how to do the skill balancing (attack, defence, speed), they can all contribute to come together for the best implementation.

Good luck. Would love to see it on Apple/Android TV, Switch, and x86_64/ARM/RISC-V GNU/Linux. Make sure you figure out the right game architecture ahead of time to avoid issues later on (e.g. confirm if C++, C, Rust, or the Godot language is best for the project)

  • Wooo! I am ready to purchase the Steam Machine whenever it comes out and install CachyOS on it. Can’t easily install KDE Bigscreen + Waydroid TV on SteamOS. Lifetime software & security updates regardless. I expect with the AI bubble it will be at least $1k unfortunately, and won’t be available in white at launch.

Then the Nvidia Shield + SSD + Game Native on the main floor where the Steam Machine will go, will replace the Raspberry Pi in the bedroom, the Raspberry Pi will become another MotionEyeOS security camera, and the main desktop will remain connected downstairs. It is the perfect middle ground between the Shield and Desktop PC. And the Steam Controller is the best controller for couch/bed gaming. Only thing that would make it better is a detachable keyboard on the bottom, but maybe there will be aftermarket Bluetooth ones.

My siblings and I have about 2000 games between us with family sharing and on other platforms (shout out to [email protected] & SteamDB sale tracking for helping us get a lot of the way there), it will be more appealing to play multiplayer games there in the living room. And that’s not including all of the legally available retro console games from the Internet Archive via IAGL for “research”. Yes, it’ll be more than a PS5 or Xbox One X 1 S 720 or whatever they call the latest generation, but no console could ever match this experience; we even have PS and Xbox “exclusives” for sale on Steam these days. What a time to be alive!

  • That says more about the people here in this little filter bubble/echo chamber than anything else. Most replies you can see don’t even have the maturity to enter good faith debate.

Like the LCBO, SAQ, Air Canada, Petro Canada or other previous/existing crown corps, they compete with private industry and generate revenue. They are required by the government to be renevue neutral.

Canada Post will continue to mint 55 year old retirees living like millionares requiring nothing more than a high school education into the 2040s, servicing their pension past the 2070s with no effort other than checking a box to have a fee thousand of their pretax pay used. There aren’t jobs with compensation that good in private industry for that level of education. Yes private industry should have better compensation, but that’s beside the point.

People either are being intentionally misleading to others, or if we give them the benefit of the doubt, are blissfully unaware of actual facts and aren’t interested in being competently informed 🙈🙉🙊
