Many of the games are pretty far-disconnected from each other, so really you can start anywhere that feels right for you. Resident Evil 0, 1, 2, and 3 are more tightly-related to each other, so if you want to experience the “original” story, I’d recommend going with RE1 Remake, then RE0 Remake, then RE2 Remake, and RE3 remake. Note that the RE1 and RE0 remakes are a lot older than RE2 and RE3, and are the traditional “tank control” game styles, while RE2 and RE3 remakes are more modern, over-the-shoulder games, so there may be some disconnect while playing through these. But these four games focus more on the Umbrella Corporation and the T-virus outbreak in Raccoon City, while the rest of the series strays away from the events in Raccoon City, entirely.
RE4 is a must-play. There’s like a billion different versions of it, too, so just pick up whatever is newest for your platform. You can’t go wrong with any of them, IMO. This one is often seen as a soft reboot of the RE series, so it’s thematically much different than the games before it. Honestly, if there is any RE that you should play, it’s RE4. This is a perfectly fine starting point, if you ask me.
RE5 and RE6 are honestly skippable, if you ask me. These ones kinda continued the “reboot” path RE4 took, but don’t really have any iconic moments of their own; I hardly remember anything from these games, and you’re not really going to miss out on any important storylines or anything by not playing them.
RE7 and RE8 are a sort of second reboot to the series, and are tightly related to each other. So if you want to start with the most modern “era” of RE, start with 7. I didn’t care much for RE7 and RE8 because they didn’t “feel” like Resident Evil to me, so I can’t really speak to how relevant they are toward the overall story.
There’s also a ton of side games, as well. I wouldn’t recommend bothering with any of them unless you really like the lore of the games they’re related to.

news@lemmings.world•Trump calls for 2020 presidential election to be ‘permanently wiped from the books’ if Southern Poverty Law Center convicted of fraud
21·3 days agoHis removal from office. If he were to try to legally impose the notion that he actually won 2020, then that would mean he was the legitimate president during that term. That would make his current occupation of the office an illegal third term.
He is not a smart person.
Aral sucks. It doesn’t matter if you agree with 99% of the things he says, if you so much as even question that 1% that he says which doesn’t quite line up to you, he quote-replies you to insult you in front of his audience and then blocks you before you can defend yourself. If he doesn’t have a proper response to your question, he’ll reply with “Oh so you believe [XYZ terrible things], huh?” which you never said and just leave that post hanging so you can’t reply to it, to make it look like you’ve given up on the argument and that he “won” it. Immature, pseudo-intellectual Twitter-user behavior, IMO.
I don’t get why people still follow him. His opinions are far from unique; you can find his exact same opinions from plenty of other Fediverse users, ones who won’t fall back on gradeschool bullying if you have a different opinion.

48·4 days agoIronically, pasting the entire text of an article in the body of a Lemmy post is also a form of copyright infringement. So uhh… yeeeaaah.
EDIT: Not for EFF content, but generally speaking, it’s not a great idea to post entire articles in the post body, as most news outlets will claim copyright to their articles.
Roughly 3.7 GB per day, if I had to guess.
The video description is all advertisements, instead of a single detail about the video, itself. Sorry, if you’re gonna upload a 40-minute video and expect people to watch, you gotta give them SOME sort of summary about what’s in the video. Instead, they took that opportunity to advertise random, uncurated bullshit to you.

Good News Everyone@piefed.social•UK moves to ban smoking for everyone born after 2008
1·5 days agoThe only impact it will have is it will make smoking more dangerous, by removing what few regulations there already are in regards to the production of tobacco products. Alcohol prohibition in the US didn’t get rid of alcoholism, it just made drinking more dangerous as people turned to bathtub spirits that were made under questionable means. The amount of people who quit drinking directly because of prohibition is absolutely negligible.

Texas@lemmy.world•Nearly 80 students forced into 400+ push-ups at school, many diagnosed with permanent kidney damage, lawsuit says
6·9 days agoRhabdomyolysis. Basically, certain injuries can cause proteins from the damaged muscle tissue to break down and leak into the bloodstream. Those proteins then cause major damage to your kidneys, which are unable to process them and can result in lifelong complications. This is something that most people doing hard physical training (such as athletes) are generally made aware of, as it’s not uncommon for eager athletes to overexert themselves and cause these sorts of injuries to themselves.
Many of these kids are likely going to end up spending the rest of their lives in and out of hospitals because of this.

They’re on the bottom so that they work with docking devices.
I’ve seen a few phones that have two ports, a bottom and a side port that both with for charging. I’ve only noticed that on gaming phones, though.
