  • can’t address “other stuff”

    Why?

    Given you said:

China is just making better stuff, and improving people’s lives as best it can.

And I responded to that with the specific criticism:

I was with you on that, upvoting, until that last line… because of the “just”. It’s doing other stuff too, and much more left out besides “improving people’s lives as best it can”.

    and that you’ve said

    I can address specific criticisms.

and have avoided doing so after queried

    shall you?

    with

    can’t address “other stuff”

is that to say [/double-down] that the only thing China is doing is “making better stuff”? And to misdirect from the rest of the specific criticism? Again the implication in the wording being there is nothing else that China does. This is your contention, yes? Have I correctly understood what you’re saying?

… Because a 2 second websearch can reveal there’s other stuff going on. But you’re saying … there is no other stuff? or that you need the other stuff to be specific before you can address the criticism that there’s other stuff besides the very narrow framing you used of “just”? Sorry, I’m struggling to follow your thinking here, with what little given to go on here so far. Maybe you can help clarify? … Or concede [that there is other stuff that China does besides just improving people’s lives as best it can][~ as looking for a second, or even base conception, [or even asking the CCP themselves, [in case saying “China” meant them]], confirms]?

Y’know? It’s not a big point… it’s not hard… so to be evasive like that, does evoke curiosity as to what psychology or corruption may be afoot.

  • “what if you had all the answers?”

Is distinct from “What would you do with a second chance?” (<- What I consider the first question of the original post, since the lemmy post title’s seen before the image’s text.), and the question in the image “You get turned back into a baby but you retain all your skills and memory, what do you do?”

“all your skills and memory” is not the same as “had all the answers”.

It’s daunting that these seemed to get conflated as synonyms, for what it suggests of that flavour of naive realism… the extreme of arrogance in equating them. … Or maybe it’s just lazy hyperbole. But given that response just then, I doubt it.

  • Is it possible to not know who a famous person is?

Good question, evoking inspection of the terms, philosophising about the ideas, … if by definition fame means (in part) known, then if you do not know them, are they famous? And so on. Like its cousin, if a twig snaps in a forest and no one is around to hear it, did it really snap?

Like are there people in the world who don’t know who Ariana Grande or The Weekend are?

Way to crash that good question into the pits on inanity.

    No.

    There are far far worse.

    We’re getting a divorce.

    I’m calling the police.

Wait until you mother hears what you just asked.

    etc.

    ;D

[If you think that’s lame… I pulled my punch. Scared of saying the more monstrous things that could be said.]

  • That’s way more difficult. Kids these days are told their future’s increasingly screwed and uncertain… They can’t even enjoy suffering being nagged to “get a job”. Our knowledge and skills largely come from a bygone era, where much of it is not worth so much any more, bearing no relevance, holding no traction, to the scenarios looming.

OP has said in a comment here:

Let’s say back when you were a baby
