General Discussion@lemmy.world•Can you guys shut up about Reddit?
2·3 years ago…no?
I mean, we’re watching the slow and gruesome death of one of the Internet’s giants, as it eats itself from within. If that weren’t enough, we’re watching this spectacle from the most popular lifeboat for refugees fleeing the slaughter - so the boat is only getting bigger and more crowded every day.
It’s gonna be a popular topic for a while.
This is the most accurate description, IMO. If you’re looking for something that’s going to incorporate all the game mechanics into the story, and do so accurately, this isn’t it.
If you want a great time at the movies with excellent comedy, action, and characters you care about - while still holding true to the fantasy and adventure spirit of D&D?
Buckle up, baby.

1·3 years agoOh my sibling in Xenu, Andor is mandatory viewing if you have any love for Star Wars at all, but ESPECIALLY if you love Rogue One. It is absolutely incredible.

Today I Learned@kbin.social•TIL that millennial dads are spending 3 times as much times with their kids than their fathers spent with them. Back in 1982, 43% of fathers admitted they'd never changed a diaper. Today, that number
18·3 years agoHigh five!
I’m with you on this all the way. My dad did, and continues to do, his best. But as an elder millennial (I was born in 81, and as best I can tell that’s what I am, I guess), as I got older it felt like our generation was collectively fucked up about a lot of the same stuff - whatever the reason. And we were making many of the same promises to ourselves.
My dad loves my two kids more than anything in this world, but there’s a definite feel of redemption-seeking there. Or maybe just trying to soothe regrets.
I have a preteen and a toddler, and for different reasons I held both of them close yesterday. I begged my brain to remember these moments when I’m my dad’s age, because I’ve been able to be there for almost every leg of the journey so far. I really don’t want it to start to all just blend together, because right now it feels so special and unique to have this opportunity.

3·3 years agoMy biggest lack of understanding is still regarding access: So, if I choose to access the Fediverse via Mastodon, can I still subscribe to Kbin and Lemmy “subs”?
I love the federated nature of all of this, I just wish it was slightly easier to put into a metaphor. I’ve seen some graphic charts that try, but it’s still a bit confusing. I’m on KBin and I like it a lot, but I have no way of knowing if I’m missing a ton of content or not!

17·3 years agoGotta admit, the Fediverse is looking pretty sweet. A surprise, to be sure! But a welcome one.

Hariette, you’ve done an absolutely incredible job. It’s really been remarkable to see, and I can’t tell you how much I - and I’m sure everyone - appreciates your insanely hard work on this!
