That is a way better idea than what I’ve had tumbling around. I was thinking about using that tape meant for the back of couches to fix rips and just adding a couple bands around the case with it.
I love when electronics are built well enough to sustain 15+ years of use and abuse.
Hey fellow 505 owner! It really is the best damn e-reader I could imagine, I bought mine back in 2009 and it is still perfect… Well except the case, it’s been peeling and looking rough for a good decade now.
Interestingly 1984 was the first book I read on it, but I agree, Fuck Amazon!
Some people, when they see an acronym, will replace it with the words it stands for in their head. A subset of that group of people get annoyed when the sentence gets all muddled up by repeated words; in this particular case, you said ‘CSAM material’, which their brain read as ‘child sexual abuse material material’.
It isn’t a big deal, but as one of those people, I totally get the urge to point it out (I’ve gotten pretty good at looking past it but it’s still a bit of a compulsion).
Obviously the reset isn’t quite sticking, otherwise why so much deja vu?
I used to work from home, now I drive 15 miles to sit in a building with nobody in it. It’s peaceful but pretty lonely given I might see someone in my building once every few weeks.
I don’t remember it from Seinfeld, but it totally tracks with the feel of their jokes. Sadly I haven’t seen Curb Your Enthusiasm or It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (figured that one was similar), they are on my list for if the wife ever gets into shows like that (I was able to get her into The Office and Parks and Rec which really weren’t in her wheelhouse).
Lol… Nah, there was an area at our high school with a row of vending machines, to keep kids from buying stuff outside of lunchtime they put two big sliding metal grates in front of them with a padlock on it. At lunch they would remove the lock and slide the grates in front of each other a bit and put the lock back on. It left us with a little cage with an entrance on each end.

Totally counts my man. In the early-mid '00s my wife and I were stationed in Germany and she knew no one so I hatched a plan. I registered a domain, set up a basic BBS, and we had business cards printed out with her name, email, and the address. Anytime she ran into another mom at the commissary, px, or just around base she would pass them out and organize a playgroup. From what I’ve heard it is still around, it just moved to Facebook.
She really got out of her shell and she organized a ton of playgroups (reserving community centers or organizing backups in case of bad weather). It was called K-Town Moms (the K was for Kaiserslautern). Good times and fond memories.
Congrats! My wife and I hit 21 this year… though we met in person, in a cage filled with vending machines.
Crazy to think she has been a contact on almost all of them, at least the main ones of the time AIM/ICQ/IRC/MSN/YAHOO…

All I’ve got on my rearview are some fuzzy dice I got for fathers day back in 2016.
When they are late, I tell the front desk to re-schedule and leave. I’ve had the dentist complain once or twice over the years but when two entities decide on a time for a meeting, that’s the time it needs to happen. Unlike the office, I’m having to cancel stuff I would normally be doing to be there, they are not.
Eventually I’ll be old and grumpy enough to start sending them bills for late cancellation (probably joking).
So hmm… The road through the neighborhood in front of my house is 25MPH, how fast can you peddle? The road connecting to it is 35MPH. I don’t know a single person that can peddle that fast yet they are legally able to use these streets provided they are wearing a helmet, remain within the lane going their direction of travel, and don’t use assistive technology that exceeds 25MPH.
I’ll personally just not excees the speed limit (maybe it’s age starting to play a role) and risk the ticket. People get pissed all the time because they would prefer to go faster than 25 or 35 on these roads, but the limit is the limit to me (until they change the wording).
Judging by the two Outlooks installed on my cooperate machine I’m guessing Outlook and Outlook (classic) are the two installed… Though they could have “Outlook for Windows” installed too as I see it offering it to me via the Windows store.
I’m in the camp that I’ll bite a little, they just have to let me know who the “higher power” is. Require me to make up a floaty ghost that is responsible for everything and all the good stuff is a miracle, but all the bad stuff is from a weaker being that the higher power just ignores… Well that seems a bit like a cop-out.
If that really is who they want me to follow, will they keep PETA off my back, I’ve had a few rough crops and I think I remember a passage that will help… I just gotta find some find some “clean animals”.

You are not supposed to drive the speed limit, you can be close but they add the word “limit” to imply that you shouldn’t exceed it.
That being said, some roads do have a minimum speed as well (the section of the interstate I drive everyday has a minimum speed of 40MPH), but the vast majority of roads, at least in the US, only have a maximum speed listed. Weather definitely affects that though as a big ass dually will be less likely to hydroplane than a little Miata.
I would personally like to just go back to calling it installing, but I doubt that is even less likely than getting back “-lications” to my programs (just a dumb joke about how applications slowly became apps).
Its all good though, I’m just an old man bitching on the internet.
