8·3 years agoAt home my breville delivers espresso’s at 93 degrees C. But it cools quickly in porcelain cups. Did they serve the coffee at boiling temperature?
It’s the fancy name they gave to the mix between cocker spaniel and poodle.

Australia@aussie.zone•How did Australia’s university system get so broken? Pretty much the same way as everything else
2·3 years agoIt was in 2007 for me, I remember one year of university fees costed like 2/3 of one month of my mother salary (secretary in the public sector).
With my studies I got decents jobs.

102·3 years agoBrother was good but I’m disappointed by the last units I had. After 4 years of light home usage (one page here and there), they are not picking up paper in the tray. Same for some relatives which bought similar units. Feels like scheduled obsolescence …

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Is charging electric car at holiday house "theft"?English
816·3 years agoIMO the electric oven is an appliance of the house, can be used at your better convenience. But the consumption of your car, was it by fuel or by electricity by charging a 80 - 100 kWh car battery, should not be supported by the property owner.
And you are comparing a phone battery with a car battery, I get that on paper it looks like that same but obviously this is messed up comparison. Sounds like comparing filling water for pasta cooking and filling a 40k L swimming pool…
In the end, the answer will be that renting prices will increase to support the extra electricity cost. And those not having an electric car will pay more for nothing more.
Isn’t that breed forbidden in some countries ? I remember reading something about the Netherlands…

1·3 years agoHi fellow, you’re actually pretty rude. Even your « I apology » comment is not an apology at all.
As an IOS dev, swift engineer, major critic bla bla bla, you should know that there are more constructive ways of providing feedback.

3·3 years agoRegular sailboats have very low fuel consumption. Like 30HP motors used only when not possible to put the sails. Here it is not a sailboat, this is a luxury appartement on water. The carbon footprint will never be neutralized.

World News@lemmy.world•Hundreds of millions in UK aid returns to Treasury in VAT on asylum hotel billsEnglish
3·3 years agoCan someone ELI5 ? VAT collected by companies including hotels has to be paid to the government. Here the government pays the invoices VAT included. Isn’t this operation neutral ? Since this seems to be a big issue, I guess not. What am I missing ?

That is crazy. And some stars are probably exploding right now and it will only be visible by our descendants in a few thousands of years. They will look like at it wondering how it was to live in our times.
