Not The Onion@lemmy.world•This ‘anti-Grammarly’ AI tool adds typos to your emails on purposeEnglish
4·1 day agoBecause it’s a service using cloud AI. Processing text uses tokens, tokens cost money, hence the subscription fee.
It’s a dumb app - deliberately so - but it costs money to run and a one-off payment won’t cut it if people start using it to modify hundreds or thousands of emails.

12·2 days agoI have a small group (4 of us) that’s been playing since 2020 - very casual, just chatting and playing whatever. Usually co-op. Here’s a list of some standouts that we enjoyed a lot or go back to regularly:
- Sea of Thieves
- Risk of Rain 2
- Content Warning
- Fortnite
- PEAK
- Straftat
- Schedule 1
- Warhammer Vermintide 2
- Golf With Your Friends
- Super Battle Golf
- World War Z

5·2 days agoNot too jaded - game devs receive huge amounts of abuse as it is. There is zero desire to make it easier.
Yeah, I think having a hole directly under the toilet is an American thing.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the details in the architecture of Apple silicon and Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite series processors that makes them very powerful compared to ARM processors using their original reference cores English
5·3 days agoThis article is a couple of years old but goes into some of the factors involved. It specifically covers mobile SOCs but they’re still ARM.
That said, I’m no hardware expert so others may be able to explain in more detail.

If you simply shut the site down, the users go elsewhere and you have to find them again.

23·5 days agoAre you familiar with scaling shaders? There are several that are designed specifically to round out pixels, like superSAI, XBR4x, or HQ4x.
Personally I think they’re hideous, but some people do use them. It’s not AI.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Amazon Just Rug-Pulled People's Game Libraries [paid games gone away, no refund]English
111·6 days agoI guess so? But that seems a bit like grasping at straws. They still have access to the games, unlike what the outrage-bait headline suggests.
And even in those cases, they could just switch to a rival service like GeForce Now, which still allows you to import third party libraries for streaming.

Yes, it’s true that you won’t be able to access your third-party games through Luna anymore. However, you’ll be able to access those games through the third-party account you had to link to Luna to purchase the game. As an example, if you purchased a game from EA on Luna, then you’ll be able to continue playing that game through EA directly after these changes to Luna’s services go into effect. You aren’t getting refunds because you aren’t losing the games. You’re only losing access to them through Luna, which is fundamentally different from losing the game entirely.

9·6 days agoIt’s not just implied, it’s explicitly stated:
For the time being, we will allow Catalog titles that have used AI assistance in the coding process, but we will flag any title as such and specify the extent that it was used (for example, “Lua debugging”) so the customer can decide whether to support it or not.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you clean the phone camera lens everytime before you take a picture?English
4·6 days agoI don’t think I’ve ever wiped my phone camera lenses.
The case I use has a lip around the camera module that keeps it recessed, so they never really touch anything. Looking at them now, they’re perfectly clean.

Exactly. If Epic released a $99 controller that required EGS running to work people would be up in arms.
