2·3 days agoEndorsing morbid ideation is irresponsible and cruel, and it’s not even useful, since the ratchet of prevention focus clicks in one direction only.
Fear is a costly motivator. Spreading it to preserve the status quo (or worse, to preserve yourself) is cowardice. We should fight for each other and a better world.
I’m sure she means well, but she’s wrong here. Do not follow this advice.

4·3 days agoWtf? That’s terrible advice to give anyone, much less everyone.
The helpful frame of mind is always to imagine the potential good one might purvey.
No joke, I think thermal networking will one day be common in homes.
It exists to some extent already in large commercial building design if only because the business sense of the added efficiency is easy to illustrate at that scale.
Stereotype. But good meme.
Healthy person recognizes codependent behavioral pattern, blames no one, and breaks free by getting their ass into therapy.

Same but with roles swapped
Right, I suspect this is voicing a much older consensus about effective storytelling and good art:
If you want to send a message, use Western Union. — Frank Capra (director of message-heavy films like Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and It’s a Wonderful Life)
Given his filmography, it’s pretty clear Capra didn’t mean that politics should be avoided when telling a story, just that the story should come first. The idea is that any “message” a writer might convey will naturally be embedded in the stories they tell, whereas writers who attempt to construct a story around a particular message tend to fail at delivering either.

Patellar reflex.
It’s a [muscle] stretch [-correction] reflex (sympathetic response) which occurs in the bones protecting the spinal cord (vertebrae depicted in OP) of many animals that have them.
Your doctor activates this reflex on purpose by gently striking an exposed tendon beneath the patella (the knee bone) to observe the strength of the response.
A lack of it (the joke above) is always abnormal and merits further investigation, as it could suggest neuropathy or injury to the central nervous system.
Hmm, sounds like one big project to me, and it appears to be going well. Keep up the good work.
Most of them were wait staff too, there or elsewhere, so they’ve seen plenty.

Vice is fair game, but calling any degree of shame to anyone on account of their genetic background is simply bad form. Edit: That said, Kash Patel is an asshole so I won’t lose sleep over it.
