Wild stuff. Never heard of the oneshot.

Wild stuff. Never heard of the oneshot.
Every time he launched my wife and I would just laugh and say “How do you suppose he’ll screw it up this time” or “I suppose Jerid hasn’t wrecked a prototype suit in a while. Let him have this.”

There are actually plenty of fanworks that ask for small amounts of money. Just look at Comiket’s doujinshi scene! I think the difference here though is that these spoiler articles in question don’t add anything of value at all.

2014 really had nothing better to offer than When Marnie Was There? Really? That movie was boring as hell.
Anyways, I looked up 2014 and it looks like that was indeed a super weak year for anime movies.

I mean, I’m not gay but if that means I’d get to date him…

I’m afraid I’m not quite advanced enough to communicate entirely via 100 Girlfriends quotes. Yet.

the first episode included an utterly loathsome set of events that the series self-evidently wants the audience to just overlook, because the perpetrators “really aren’t all that bad after all because look - see what they’re doing now?”
Not quite. Since you’re dropping the series anyways, here’s why all that happened:
Asa spent the first several years of her life kept in a cage by this village. At some point her parents took her and ran, but they were forced to leave Yuru behind because the people of the village got in their way. She and Gabby have spent all the years since then being targeted by assassins from the village because of the power she has. They even succeeded in kidnapping her once, which is related to her missing eye. The fake Asa in the cage is there purely to keep Yuru around because the village wants him to awaken to the power he potentially might have, and then help to conquer Japan someday. They’ve sent people to attack him in the mountains as a false flag sort of thing multiple times before to try to get his powers to awaken; the only reason he’s still fine is his dad brought him up to be a complete badass. Every adult in the village is complicit in this; they’re told what’s going on when they come of age. Those who aren’t willing to go along with the plan are exiled, which is what “going to the lower world to earn money for the village” actually usually means.
Witch Hat Atelier - I loved the first episode, and haven’t watched any more of it since. I’m saving it to binge later.
Honestly this one is very very good but it might be better binged anyways.

Oh yeah, very unhinged.

Oh, and why is it always the bad guys who have the superior drip? Their pointy hats are way better than these bland cones
For real though. I actually think it might be because they appear less often so giving them complicated outfits has less of an impact on the mangaka’s wrists. I actually really like the outfits our main characters are wearing, but I won’t deny the brim hat witches have style.

I wouldn’t call it wish fulfillment simply because a lot of his girlfriends are waaaay too crazy for me to ever want to deal with them. And deal with them he does. If anything I would say it’s a story about a guy grinding himself to dust to try to be the best boyfriend possible for dozens of very different girls. Maybe the first few chapters feel like wish fulfillment, but it very quickly goes from “damn, I wish I were dating them” to “damn, I wish I were dating him”.
Anyways, beyond that it’s just really impressive that someone is trying to make a story with 101 main characters and they’re actually doing a pretty decent job of it so far. Granted Rentarou has only met 1/3 of his soulmates so far in the manga, and it looks like it’s already starting to become difficult for the mangaka to give everyone the screentime they deserve, but still!

I finished the second season of Umamusume this week. I can see why people loved this season!
As someone who’s had his fitness goals crushed by injury more times than he can count l really felt like they did a good job of capturing the despair that goes with that. For me it was just some basic “exercise so I don’t drop dead of heart disease in my 40s” stuff, but it still felt awful having months of progress reset to zero, and then it felt even worse when it happened again. I can’t imagine what it would’ve been like if those were my life goals being crushed instead!

As I said in the other discussion thread, we’re definitely missing some puns based on Coco’s name meaning “here” or “this place” in Japanese. In the official English version of the manga after Richeh opens up the hole Agott says “Let’s hurry up and get away from her-” and then the next speech bubble is “Here. I was going to say ‘Here.’” Unfortunately that excellent localization doesn’t work quite as well when you say it out loud so they couldn’t re-use it for the anime.

Fair use is a US thing, not a Japanese thing. Also, I’m not convinced a lot of these videos would’ve qualified as fair use even in the US. To say they were posting spoilers is an understatement. A lot of these videos restate every detail of the entire plot from beginning to end.
Here’s an interesting article on how fair use actually works: https://fairuse.stanford.edu/overview/fair-use/four-factors/

Fun stuff, but more than anything else this mainly just got me excited for what looks to be a confrontation in the next episode.

It’s got to be Odd Taxi, though I can’t think of a lot of competition if I’m being honest. Besides, Odd Taxi is great. It’s got the lore-accurate gacha gamer and everything!

I think that might actually be Mobile Suit Gundam.

Not to mention all the nasty DRM keeping users from watching on their phones or laptops.

Thanks!

Peaceful village? Perhaps. Have you considered that maybe it’s super weird that they had a fake Asa sitting in a cage in the keep? It’s obvious that not everything is exactly as it seems. Just look at Dera.
Love how Dera and Hana are going, “Okay things are finally calming down we can slowly get Yuru accustomed to the lower world now” and Yuru says “No. The plot will progress.”
Also Yuru’s daemons are great. It kinda feels like they’re just enjoying the ride.
