I’ve had it and I liked it. I prefer little pickles like cornichons though and you can’t have both.

Ain’t no party like an S Club party!
Yep our travel is very much governed by the seasons, as well as whatever life throws at us in between. They are saying it is possibly going to be a very strong El Niño year too, which would tend to collapse trade winds (that we would rely on to cross the Pacific) and bring more tropical storms to the Pacific. So maybe this forced pause is a good thing.
We are on a sailboat…as may be obvious with the above paragraph! Oof, can you imagine how expensive crossing the Pacific would be right now if you were under engine power only?
Thank you! It’s going to depend a lot on when we get the all clear to sail again and where we can get to before hurricane season kicks in as a result. We are hoping to still be able to get through the Panama Canal but it could be getting too late to head that way by the time we can leave.
Our dog got sick Jamaica, where we couldn’t get her treated so we have completely abandoned our plans of heading across the pacific this year and are now in Honduras. She is almost completely recovered from surgery now but it’s been slow progress. At least it’s beautiful here, not a bad place to be stuck!

My grandparents bought me a Waterman ballpoint pen 24 years ago and it’s still going strong. Plus it’s a good looking pen.

3·2 months agoTry L&T (lemon and Te Aroha) if you haven’t already. It’s still uniquely kiwi and tastes great! It came out im the 1800s. Got discontinued for a few decades but is back and worth the switch.
They are really small and not easy to see if they are on their own but I did see it from the boat. It almost looked like a piece of rubbish at first. Just a little clear tube with a red dot. I guess there are different species of salp and I don’t know which one I saw. Apparently their numbers play a role in climate change. They filter carbon from the ocean and prevent it entering the atmosphere.
I saw a salp yesterday. Not a chain of them, just a single one. I’d never seen one before…or maybe never noticed them. Either way it was cool to see.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Someone, I'm thinking with multiple accounts, is downvoting EVERY comment I make. Mildly aggravating, mostly sad for someone like that. Can I find out who and just block them?
21·4 months agoI think on the original offending post, OP made some somewhat inflammatory comments about ADHD and Autism further down. I imagine the downvoter felt personally hurt by these comments, hence the temporary spree, driven mostly by emotion. I don’t agree with the vote manipulation but not knowing their full story I would caution against people coming across this and retaliating against this person. It seems like it was just a short response and hopefully they have had a chance to cool off now.
I’m surprised how far down I had to scroll to find this as an answer!
Yeah I’ve read accounts of it and I’m definitely a bit nervous! It’ll be an experience to remember for sure! Just up and down the East coast on my boat. I sailed to Bermuda on a different boat. That was a really cool place! Anchored beside the Statue of Liberty in my boat, which is something I never thought I would do!

I guess it depends on what you care about. The time frames aren’t just arbitrary numbers that the manufacturers whacked on their packaging. Actives like hyalauronic acid and vitamin C break down over time. So your products could not really be doing what you are hoping for anymore. Additionally microbe introduction can lead to infection and you won’t necessarily be able to tell by looking at it.
If you have heard of Labmuffin’s Dr. Michelle Wong you will probably know that she is a great resource for science based information on skincare and beauty. Here is an interview with her about it.
Straight moisturisers are not something I will even pay attention to because I get through them so fast anyway. SPF is something I’ve always paid attention to the expiry dates for. I don’t want to mess with my eyes so I’m definitely going to be paying attention to those dates a bit more-application method will likely affect that.
The idea behind this PSA was for people like me who didn’t know how long each product was meant to be good for and wanted to know. As I said, maybe most people already knew this. I like knowing it because I was stretching out products with actives far too long that I should’ve just used up quicker.
I like the top on smaller bottles and will likely try that method on future. Thanks.
Yep east coast USA again. Heading to the Bahamas. Given the boat a good shake down over the past year so goal is to go through the Panama Canal early next year and start working our way across the Pacific. Lots of planning involved!
Came here to randomly give Dave appreciation for running this instance but seems like somebody beat me to it. Nice! Stuck in the cold due to an autopilot failure a couple of days ago and waiting to get that sorted before heading to warmer weather. Having trouble finding good weather windows to head offshore though. I’m so ready for the beach!

Why specifically boats? Are you trying to make money with this endeavour? Is there a specific type of boat you are looking to be on? If not maybe it would be worth going on Crewbay and looking for an experienced captain who is just looking for somebody to help with tasks along the way for a single leg in exchange for food. Start to build references and miles by doing this a few times, then the more you do it, the more you will find people willing to take you on board for longer periods of time and potentially pay you (pay would be more likely if you crew on the larger motor yachts).
