2·3 years ago300 miles! The only thing left to pack are the cats into our car. They’ve got the house all to themselves tonight. Thanks!
If this comment is showing up twice, it’s because for some reason the first comment says ”deleted by creator” even though I don’t remember deleting it… so I’m posting the comment again

5·3 years agoAfter several much smaller moves, before I was married, I seem to have finally learned the lesson that I don’t need to hold onto everything, and the boxes don’t need to be completely full. It is indeed a lot of stuff… but it could have been, so, so much worse.

Either are good. I found Lemmy.world more intuitive right off the bat, compared to KBin.social, from the browser on mobile (iPhone). Once I figured on how to turn on some accessibility settings on KBin (basically labels for all the things), I began enjoying KBin a lot more. KBin has more options for customization, and Lemmy is intuitive but doesn’t have that customization yet. Both still have a lot of development needed. Im probably going to stick with Lemmy for a bit because even with the customization that KBin offers, Lemmy is still easier for me to use, because I’m already used to Lemmy now

The Refrigerator@lemmy.world•I am officially excited about moving, as opposed to being stressed out or overwhelmed or on the fenceEnglish
1·3 years agoI’m moving 300 miles away from where I live now for a mix of personal and professional reasons. I am remote right now, and I’ll be within an hour from the office after the move, and I plan on going in at least once a week. We are in west PA right now and neither of us have any family nearby. After the move, we will be (temporarily) staying with my in laws until we close on a house. And I’ll be able to meet my brand new nephew! And then, hopefully, soon, within the next year, my mom (who is 450 miles away in the opposite direction) will also find her way over to the general area where I’m moving to. We’ve been planning to make this move for a long time, but we didn’t expect for the circumstances to allow the move for at least another two years. Well, circumstances changed, and we jumped on it while the interest rates are stable
Congratulations! We are packing the truck today and we STILL don’t have everything in boxes yet, you are ahead of the game!!

Reddit Migration@kbin.social•I don’t understand people who say they can’t figure out Lemmy or KBin
1·3 years agoIt’s the UI that trips me up on KBin. It’s probably a lot easier for people using a desktop to navigate. But from mobile, it’s frustrating when I tap what I believe should be a button and it isn’t actually a button. The navigation of KBin.social is less intuitive to me than the navigation of Lemmy.world. Also, yeah, “magazine” is not an intuitive term.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is anyone else getting phantom notifications on Lemmy.world?
1·3 years agoHmm, I do not see a “Mark all as read” button anywhere, maybe because I’m viewing from my iPhone

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How does one create a community?
4·3 years agoThis is what I did:
Lemmy.world, On iPhone, in the browser, on the upper right hand corner there is a button with three horizontal lines. Tap that to open a menu, then tap “Create Community”
I don’t know if that will work with Jerboa though

3·3 years agoAhh thanks, I didn’t realize there was a tab for blocks. I was looking in settings but the settings menu stayed pulled down and covered it up

1·3 years agoFeel free to share this on the r/ - I can’t because my account no longer exists. I was a mod of the r/ and I’m confident that the remaining mods won’t take a post about this community down (the admins are a different story). This community was fan-made and the creator added me after I reached out. I haven’t asked the r/ mods to post it yet since I’m still figuring out how the Fediverse and how Lemmy.world specifically works. The r/ mods are aware of this community’s existence and are also interested in seeing where this community goes.

I can’t speak to whether or not those subs are “official”

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do I search for communities outside Lemmy.world from Lemmy.world from iOS?
2·3 years agoThank you. Search by URL still doesn’t work in browser or in Limbo BUT the link you posted works when I tap on it

We got there safely - thank you for asking! Just had a couple cat incidents at the very end. But the cats were very considerate about making a mess on a towel and then not laying in the towel. Anyway. We just got the stuff out of the truck
