The substitution after ekitike got injured should have been a like for like striker, replacing him with jones completely dismantled our 41212 game plan without any attempt to make it work. Really confusing decision by slot. We had 4 midfielders on with no control of midfield.

I’ve been convinced he should go for a couple months now. These draws are abysmal, and there hasn’t been any distinct playstyle that has arisen from his changes.

The guehi transfer is a bit misleading because it includes a huge sign-on bonus and wages that are difficult for any non-oil club to match. But it’s hard to imagine our current form didn’t have any impact on the decision.

Really gross behavior from martinelli at the end there, in my unbiased opinion it should be a retroactive ban for shoving bradley like that before he got stretchered off. Hope it’s not a tear.

He just doesn’t have the people skills to keep a hungry midfield/attack motivated like klopp did. I get wanting to change the team to play to your strengths, but I do think he changed too much too fast.

If we win this game then I consider this season a rebuild. If we lose it it’s a failure and slot should be sacked. If it’s a draw then idk maybe ask me in May.

Well at least we didn’t lose

The poor results this season in my mind have been caused by a few things.

1. Slot wants our midfield to press less aggressively, a departure from our klopp system. This is a good idea in the long run as it plays more to his strengths
2. We got a very unbalanced set of players this summer, very attack heavy
3. Jota’s death

The combination of these I think has created a lot of uncertainty in the team, which I think could only be managed effectively by a truly generational manager (like klopp). I don’t think there’s a better man for the job right now, and I have a good feeling we’ll be back in a big way in the coming months as things get sorted and settled

Seems like no salah was the key to get this new system up and running. Interesting to see how this plays out the next few matchweeks…

It seems reverting our lineup to be closer to last season has helped us stabilize, LW Wirtz makes sense I think

Really felt like the players were playing expecting a loss. Odds were definitely against us given the lineup, but that has not really been an issue in years prior. Again, the link-up between players is a glaring weak point, so many balls given away cheaply. If we don’t win against villa… oof

Seeing 7 players sprinting from midfield into the box around the 65th minute made me think: “what the hell are our tactics”. We have incredible attacking talent but there needs to be more of a framework installed around them. Way too reliant on individual greatness at the moment.
