The closest thing I’ve found to Plexamp (on Android) is Symphonium. I only pointed it to my Plex server, but it offers support to so many other services. It also works perfect in Android Audio. It does cost $4, but it’s honestly worth that and then some.
But I totally get how great Plexamp is. I use it every day.
If you are running Android, Symfonium is REALLY close to Plexamp. I use both with Android Auto.
Absolutely loved this Another World (Out of This World in the US)! It looked like nothing else, had cut scenes, even a little load time (not common on a SNES). Early polygon look before Star Fox came out even.

I 100% understand what you mean. I still have a hard time trusting Google with their services and host my own RSS reader (TT-RSS) and music (Plex & Plexamp), but I do use YTM for finding new music as well as backing up my personal music like I did with GPM. Not a shill either, but YTM is not a bad product.
I never really used their Podcast app as I assumed it would be closed at some point (and here we are) and really enjoy Pocket Casts. If that ever shuts down, I’ll just use GPodder and roll my own hosting for yet another service. I guess in the end, Google has taught me to be self reliant lol
When I managed a team, my one big rule was to always have them try to offer something constructive to a problem, rather than them come tell me there was a problem and hope I fix it.
I would quote the Simpsons, “We’ve tried nothing and we’re out of ideas” (I never said this condescendingly)
Eventually they would come up with quick ideas and share them. And regardless if they were right or not, I would encourage them to go further and try out their idea without solving it for them. This built so much confidence in the team, they did amazing work.
Bringing the energy to be part of the solution (you don’t need to SOLVE it) really can bring a team together
