fatcat@discuss.tchncs.detoHacker News@lemmy.bestiver.se•I'm never buying another Kindle, and neither should youEnglish
1·7 days agoIs there anything which can compare with kindles when it battery life? I got a kindle and a Tolino (both rooted) and the kindle just works for weeks and the tolino has to be charged every few days and loses battery when it’s just sitting around. If I leave the kindle in a drawer for weeks, basically no battery is used.

2·12 days agoI agree, local travel is the way. I went there by train, so I guess that still counts. :D But I would wish train travel would be more affordable and EASY. So complicated to book trains which go borders. You really have to know all the tricks to get a good price. But I will train interrail that summer I think, let’s see how that goes.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do I almost never see people flying drones?
10·15 days agoThey are great for exploration and photography/videography which I’d count as rather useful. More “useless” things are flying it for fun and getting better at controlling it. There is stunt flying and tricks you can do, there is a whole community of enthusiasts who modify (and build) drones and contests you can compete in. “Useless” like any other hobby I guess.

2·22 days agoTiny bit concerning that I totally see him making a post like that.
But also, why is everybody so offended by censored words here?
I think because it’s a sign how social media corps have trained us to avoid certain words or even create new ones (for example “unalive” instead of “kill”).
Oh wow that’s really interesting! Thanks for the explanation.
though the concept of adoption differs between the West and the Arab world
very curious about that. how does it differ?

So I guess nothing is done to the file? I hope? :D

I can’t tell you if that’s technically sound but that’s what was said on the page linked…
Thanks for the explanation!
Ehh, I think it depends on the person. I saw basically no one in person for weeks and it didn’t bother me a lot. Humans are social animals, but we are also all very different.
Serious question: Why do you need to remind yourself where north is in your house? Is this important somehow?
Just a curious European here who thinks about cardinal directions about once a year…
Mana, Saturo (unfortunately they changed the product, loved the old one), Bertrand
Can’t say anything about if they are really good for you, but at least they don’t taste like shit (for me).

1·1 month agoThe idea here is not overloading their database infrastructure literally, but putting so much nonsense info in there that all of the collected data is useless. For example… an insane amount of cis people.
Not living in the same state seems to be pretty safe to me btw. There is no way being safe all the time while fighting and resisting… Hell, even living in general is quite dangerous. One has to choose what in their life is worth taking a risk.

Not really a thing in vienna to actually see someone doing something like that in a toilet. At most, snorting something. If I would see something lying around in the toilet that would be something no one would ignore here, but call someone to figure out if they need help.
Very different to Seattle apparently.
