I’ve gotten it to “work” but it’s fragile and updates tend to break it. I ended up switching to FreeCAD, it’s come a long way and version 1.1 is pretty great.

Raspberry Pi’s were amazing when they were like $30… cheap enough to be accessible to most people and you could do a lot with them. I still have an older Pi that runs pihole.
Now that it’s $300, there are a lot of other options out there. I find it hard to recommend a Pi anymore.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•I'm cutting FB and IG entirely, is there a way to see content there without an account?English
5·26 days agoOh, I understand it… it’s basically free and I think they feel that advertising on facebook is good business. Facebook has just made it hard to view without an account. I think I’d have less of a problem with it if I could view the information without facebook popping up a “create an account” modal constantly, preventing me from viewing the information.

Technology@lemmy.world•Ford, Take Note: Classic Pickup Becomes The EV We WantEnglish
21·28 days agoThis is cool but I think the reason Ford isn’t selling many trucks is because they are expensive. And this at $95k… cool but too expensive for me. I realize batteries are expensive but they need to start making cheaper EVs. Not everyone can afford a luxury car/truck and the Lightning, while cool, is definitely a luxury truck.

86·28 days agoThis… too many small businesses use facebook as their “webpage.” I’m not creating an account, blank or otherwise, to view your hours… I probably just won’t go.
Email is considered insecure as a 2nd factor. TOTP stands for Time-based One-Time Password. Usually you store a seed and that combined with the time generates a time based password. If someone intercepts it, it’s only valid for a certain time frame (I think about a minute or so), after which it’s invalid.

9·1 month agoStage 3 colon cancer in my late 40s. Going through Chemo now. My oncologist thinks we can eradicate it so I’m hopeful. He also thinks it’s due to the increase of Microplastics.
If you are in your 40s, go get a colonoscopy. The prep sucks but it’s worth it.

News@lemmy.world•Epstein files suggest acts that may amount to crimes against humanity, say UN expertsEnglish
3·2 months agoAre you saying there is precedence for what we currently have? Trump seems to think that he’ll get impeached if republican’s don’t win. Then if he’s out, Vance and him seem to have differing opinions on the Epstein files. Vance has also had some things to say before getting all budy-budy with Trump.
France is currently investigating allegations. In fact 10 countries have opened investigations.
So I suspect Trump is in the files, hence the coverup but once he’s gone I think there might be enough public pressure to cause the next administration to do something.
I mean, Biden pardoned his family because he thought the new administration would go after them.
Of course, I can’t see the future and maybe it all gets swept under the rug, but I’m hopeful.

3·2 months agoI don’t know if ever is the right term. I’m hopeful that once this administration is gone, the next administration might start doing their job and investigate some of these individuals, leading to prosecutions.
But I think you are certainly right that the current administration is corrupt and no prosecutions will happen under them.

21·2 months agoThere is an experimental Wayland for Mint… on the login screen there is an icon in the upper right. Clicking that allows you to select the experimental Wayland version or X11… there’s one other but I forget what it is at the moment. So it is possible to run Mint and Wayland, just not recommended.

3·4 months agoPretty much all the functional models I use are free. I get them from https://www.printables.com/ https://makerworld.com/ https://www.thingiverse.com/ https://thangs.com/ or I design them myself. Back when I was on Mac I would use Fusion but lately I’ve been 100% Linux so I’ve been using FreeCAD and it’s way better since v1.0.
As far as paid models, it’s mostly been things from https://www.myminifactory.com/ and generally sculpts because I want to support authors. Sometimes it’s through patreon but they usually send myminifactory links to redeem.
But yeah, get yourself a pair of calipers and learn a CAD program.

I have a kindle that I’ve had for ages. It has been jailbroken for a while and I’ve been loading my own epubs onto it. They make it easy with the 1 click send to kindle stuff but that locks you in to their ecosystem.
