Without solid proof that the new instance admin is actually the same person, I would be very hesitant to defederate based on the behavior of the older accounts and the conjecture that the accounts are owned by the same person.

Meaning, defederation should be based solely on the current account’s behavior. I don’t think I’ve encountered this account, and I don’t especially feel like going digging. But if there have been reports flowing in, and the content reported justifies instance defederation, then it should be defederated.

I haven’t seen it myself, and since I don’t really have time to do digging right now, I’ll abstain from the vote.

I see there is an exemption for subscription-based MMOs, but no exemption for buy-to-play MMO (like, Guild Wars). I wonder how this bill would impact that market?

Ideally, we wouldn’t need to do age verification at all. But if it’s absolutely required, the most privacy-preserving way would be:

1. System administrator verifies the birthdate of the user, stores it on the user account
2. Applications can then ask, “is the current user over 18?” And just gets true/false.

Try requesting a full export of your data… I’m pretty sure they have that feature (or at least used to… I haven’t been on facebook in years). The note may be lurking in there, and while I hate how much data they retain, it would be great if you could get that back!

I’m on the Naga V2 hyperspeed. Best I’ve been able to do is set all the buttons to various keyboard keys in windows, then remap those in Linux. It covers basic functionality, but is not very customizable, and no automatic profile switching that I’ve found.

The big thing for me would be official driver & software support from peripheral manufacturers. A few off the top of my head for things I actually use…

Razer mouse software that supports the full range of configuration options available on Windows plus automatic profile switching based on active app.

Configuration software for Yamaha mixers (I do all my audio through an AG08).

StreamDeck software (the open source tooling for StreamDeck is pretty good, so that one’s less of an issue, but would still be nice to have parity with windows/mac).

Something like Windows Hello to do face unlock through my Logitech camera when I sit down at the machine.

They do exist. They’re called boutique hotels now. There aren’t a lot, and some of them tend to be pretty expensive. But they’re out there.

I’m not familiar with boox’s software (I’m still on a Nook but thinking of getting either a boox or kobo soon), but there may be a way to tweak how often it does a full refresh in the settings if you dig around a bit.

That’s not burn-in, it’s ghosting. Just about every e-ink screen can have that problem if the software is doing partial/fast screen updates. E-ink screens are very slow and use somewhat more power when doing a full screen clear, so many devices save energy and time by only partially resetting the screen when turning pages/navigating. After some number of interactions, they’ll do the full screen refresh to clean out the ghosts.

Come up with new features that people would be willing to pay for.

The problem is motherboards typically only have 1 or 2 NVMe ports, but 4+ SATA ports. So consumers will be losing a lot of potential storage expandability when SATA SSDs are gone, especially in small form factor cases that don’t have room for 3.5" spinning disks.
