It doesn’t matter where the line is drawn. There will always be edge cases if we try to measure offside in any objective fashion. I’d prefer to keep things as they are but just try to optimise the process. I believe most people aren’t opposed to close offside calls but rather the very long periods of uncertainty during VAR checks.
In any case we’re due two entertaining semi finals. Bayern against Qatar will be amazing and likely be full of action and include many goals. Arsenal against Athletico will be entertaining due to the pure awkwardness of two teams that only really want to not play football. I’m looking forward to seeing how that will play out.
It would be so hilarious if Spurs went down and play the likes of Lincoln next season.
I really don’t understand what the fuss is about. It’s a perfectly normal process in professional football to, if the results aren’t going the way the management wants them to, sack the coach and promote a successful youth coach. Their new coach has a solid track record with the under 19s and has also worked as a an assistant coach for the first team before. There is nothing unusual about this. Had Marie-Louise Eta been a man I sincerely doubt any news outlets like the New York Times would even report on the issue.

I’m well aware of the fact that French comes in different varieties, especially back in the 19th century. However, especially during the time this map is set in, the French government set out on a conscious effort to standardise French and propagate the idea that French only cones in one single flavour. Purposefully depicting the German speakers within France as small and splintered groups and the French speaker as one single large group is part of the message this map tries to convey.
Ik begrijp niet waarom Nederland geen Europese systemen in overweging neemt. Zowel het Franse SAMP/T als het Duitse IRIS-T hebben in Oekraïne al goede resultaten laten zien. Ik zou het beter vinden om deze ontwikkelingen te stimuleren dan voor veel geld nog meer Amerikaanse techniek te kopen.
Since it’s such a common thing for men to coach a womens’ team, it’s only natural that at some point a woman would coach a mens’ team. I guess that time is now. I wish her good luck and I am genuinely curious how the reactions by some of the weirder parts of German football punditry will go nuts about this (Mario Basler, anyone?).

If a large country such as France is serious about such a switch I’d be surprised if they didn’t use some sort of custom distro, perhaps built upon Ubuntu. This would allow for solid compatibility with the “parent”, but also allow for some tweaking to fit the specific needs of the French government and its many agencies. To my knowledge the German state of Schleswig Holstein, which decided to switch to open source as much as possible months ago, still hasn’t decided which distro would be the best fit for their project. Such a major decision really needs good planning and cannot be allowed to go wrong.
The superb fightback that Germans also call: playing for as long as is necessary for Bayern to win.

I’m certainly not cheering for a regime like the current Iranian one. I deliberately put “good guys” in quotation marks and suggested they might be the more reasonable party, as in the party that is more likely to keep its word.
It’s really difficult to look like the “good guys” in a conflict, when you’re the Islamic Regime of Iran. Somehow the current United States are making the Iranians look more and more reasonable.
It would seem like different nations are trying to find a sort of modus operandi to somewhat use the shipping lane again. Let’s see how long it takes for the US Navy to be used to keep it closed for everyone.
Das zeigt einfach wie wichtig ein lokaler Betriebsrat ist, auch für kleine Betriebe oder Standorte. Ohne eine ordentliche Vertretung der Belegschaft fühlen sich Arbeitgeber manchmal einfach zu frei und gehen womöglich über den gesetzlichen Rahmen hinaus. Indem solche Situationen erstmal zu einem Dialog führen, kann schon ganz vorne im Prozess manchmal eine andere Richtung eingeschlagen werden.
This is good news. I’m honestly surprised at how positive the last few pieces of news from Moldova usually are. It’s obviously up to the people of Moldova and the people of Romania, but I would welcome Moldova into the EU via reunification with Romania at some point in the future.
As someone who was born outside of Germany but now lives here (with no immediate plans for going anywhere else) I regularly ask myself this question. Obviously many Germans seek economic opportunity in Switzerland, but the Swiss seem to really have about enough of all these immigrants. Then there might be other destinations that some people also bring up like Denmark, Sweden or Norway, but these fail to even break the top 20 destinations statistically.
In 2024 most emigrations seem to be in the context of people returning to their other European home countries. Out of the statistical top 20 only Spain/Italy (climate, retirement) Switzerland (economic opportunity) and the United States (again, economic opportunity, but recently with more people moving from the United States to Germany than the other way around) sound like plausible targets for German emigration at scale.
In all likelihood this could just be part of the general “mopiness” that seems to be prevalent in German culture.
They could just add a Bayern-counter to save space. They are likely to win 25 out of the next 30.
