I think the article is so close to a real solution, it states how close female competitors performance is to males performance, like archery, sailing or other sports like chess, so why not remove the male female categories and make it open and as inclusive for everyone.

In sports where there is a clear advantage that a characteristic can bring, and scientifically proven, like sex or testosterone level or weight for example, have the protected categories undergo testing, for example if I want to be a male in the under 60kg class in boxing for example, I have to go in and they measure my weight (even if I may be embarrassed about my weight for example). If you do not pass the test you do not qualify for the protected category and go to the open category.

So the protected categories will have to be first be able to defend its protected status by showing certain characteristics can be detrimental to participation of everyone, for example 60kg boxer won’t be able to compete against a 120kg boxer, or a 60kg female boxer against a 60kg male boxer won’t be able to compete, proven scientifically, thus the requirements for the protected categories and their testing included. Heck even make protected trans/inter sex category if the other two do not provide meaningful participation, maybe fold in the special Olympics into the Olympics and have less abled categories, so that they can also be included into the Olympics and not excluded in their own different event.

The more extreme the regime gets, the more it says how desperate it is to hold onto power. Hopefully Iranians themselves, and not external powers or zealots, can seize their country and liberate themselves from oppressive regimes, both local and international

South African here, we have pretty strict gun laws yet if you have corrupt police, like ours where there is a commission of our police service happening right now and cases of police selling firearms to criminals, the gun laws are targeting civilians wanting to protect themselves legally and not criminals. Since our last amendment of the law that places stricter controls did not lead to a decrease in criminal armed violence. Easy to say restrict guns if you have never felt a barrel being pressed against the back of your head.

Couple of years ago we had an almost church shooting in SA, armed criminals were almost immediately stopped by a legally armed churchgoer, think it happened in Centurion.

I think it should be a push and pull, just legislating it does not automatically make society safer for everyone, you have to look at the need, imagine Sudan’s recent massacre, what if those ordinary citizens had access to firearms a bit more freely, would that have been a bad thing? What about Myanmar with its resistance making 3d printed guns? Should that be outlawed, how would that nation enforce it. I won’t lie if I am in a country like the Netherlands, never been there but in my mind I think they are one of the safest people in the world for this example, I cannot see a reason why you would require a firearm, well currently, in that situation in a reasonable capacity.

If your country is peaceful with no crime and all society’s problems are solved then yes why would you need a gun, but until then, where there are reasonable reasons to have a firearm I am of support of firearm ownership. I honestly never wish to be put in a situation where I have to use it, it will then be a successful ownership.

Just make the sports as inclusive as possible. Maybe if there is really a statistically significant advantage the different divisions might be gendered but it has to be proven that it is excluding people.

Well this is my opinion; I have a large cr10 smart pro, it is way too big for 95% of my prints. Only a small number has ever been larger than 20cm. So don’t go and buy too large of a printer initially. So don’t think you are missing out with 30cm30cm30cm build volumes.

Next is speed, I am still stuck at 60mm/s speeds so get something fast, this is the biggest gripe of my printer. Not the quality, not the size… But speed. You can always make your printer print slower but not easily very faster than designed. Anything that can hit 180-200mm/s would be amazing.

Next is the multiple filament that has taken the world by storm, all I can say is I am jealous and cannot wait to get a printer which has it, call it fomo but I want it, I think it has its use cases but for you that is to decide.

Next is do you like to tinker or do you just want to print and forget. I cannot speak to either of your examples but even my cr10 is very close to print and forget, I did a bit of setup but you will do something similar while learning how to use it. So I think both your examples will be basically print and forget out of the box. If you want to tinker I do not think either your examples are very mod friendly but I might be wrong. Nor privacy friendly if you just connect and forget but that is your choice, honestly I am indifferent. If you want to maybe try and install a rpi with klipper maybe you will get past most of your privacy concerns, but that is a whole bunch of learning and say then good bye to a good weekend learning and getting everything to work, but learning is so rewarding. I did a klipper conversion on my creality and I love it.

Honestly go with your gut, there will never be a 3d printer that does everything and is perfect, just ask yourself what your needs are and what are non negotiable. Everything is evolving so rapidly in 3-5 years your new printer now will seem old, so future proofing is very hard with a plug and play.

Also check part availability where you are, in South Africa, where I assume both of us are, I chose creality because even now I can still buy parts easily at most 3d printer shops years after the model has been discontinued.

Yeah I am having too much friction getting Fusion360 to work on my Linux Mint, I know there are methods but with the registration as a hobbyist and using a container… Got too much, you can blame me as a user not being invested enough to get it working, and installed FreeCAD from the Linux store hassle free.

The quirks I can work around, sometimes it makes me go back and redesign another iteration to avoid the quirk and then also improve my design as a bonus
