  • “In the United States, for over a hundred years, the ruling interests tirelessly propagated anticommunism among the populace, until it became more like a religious orthodoxy than a political analysis. During the cold war, the anticommunist ideological framework could transform any data about existing communist societies into hostile evidence. If the Soviets refused to negotiate a point, they were intran- sigent and belligerent; if they appeared willing to make concessions, this was but a skillful ploy to put us off our guard. By opposing arms limitations, they would have demonstrated their aggressive intent; but when in fact they supported most armament treaties, it was because they were mendacious and manipulative. If the churches in the USSR were empty, this demonstrated that religion was suppressed; but if the churches were full, this meant the people were rejecting the regimes atheistic ideology. If the workers went on strike (as happened on infrequent occasions), this was evidence of their alienation from the collectivist system; if they didn’t go on strike, this was because they were intimidated and lacked freedom. A scarcity of consumer goods demonstrated the failure of the economic system; an improvement in consumer supplies meant only that the leaders were attempting to placate a restive population and so maintain a firmer hold over them. If communists in the United States played an important role struggling for the rights of workers, the poor, African-Americans, women, and others, this was only their guileful way of gathering sup- port among disfranchised groups and gaining power for themselves. How one gained power by fighting for the rights of powerless groups was never explained. What we are dealing with is a nonfalsifiable orthodoxy, so assiduously marketed by the ruling interests that it affected people across the entire political spectrum.”

    Such a good quote

  • To all the people reading through this comment section believing that China and the DPRK are obviously lying about their suicide rates consider that you might be believing this with very little evidence. Unless you can show otherwise there is no actual reasonable evidence that proves in any way that they are indeed lying about this information.

Instead of following your gut actually take a step back and consider all the evidence you have that proves these countries are lying about there own statistics. The truth isn’t always easy to find, conspiracy theorists believe insane theories such as covid is fake because they mindlessly follow what they have been told without good evidence. I’m not telling you to become a communist I’m just telling you to always consider that everything you have been told your whole life could be wrong. Maybe the flat earthers were right all along.

Australia definitely does this. Developers will just build an entire town with houses that all look something like this (except its a maze that’s unreasonably difficult to navigate) 0 public transport and something like 1 road in and out that everyone needs to drive through to get to there job everyday.

I dont understand why you hate petty bourgois so much. They work and own the means of production, so they arent bourgeois since they dont exploit workers and they arent workers because they arent exploited by the bourgeois.

If by petty bourgeois you mean small business owners that hire other workers to exploit then they have become bourgeois, not petty bourgeois.

At least thats how I understand it.

I agree with orc girly. I also think your wife does have some very week reasoning from what you have said, but I don’t think that partners should be entitled to sex. I think you probably have some issues of your own if your blaming your depression on your wife not wanting to have sex with you.
