Linux Mint@lemmy.ml•Linux Mint's next release won't be until Christmas 2026
7·10 days agoIt’ll come out whenever it comes out. What’s the rush?
Do you know of an easy drop in way to convert a sysV system into an OpenRC one?

World News@lemmy.ml•Mexico’s Socialist President to Roll Out Universal Healthcare
261·13 days agoI hate socdem parties and their members being called socialist. There is nothing socialist about reforming capitalism.
Yep! I don’t want anything to do with it. I don’t care if it’s an optional component, it’ll be optional until it isn’t.
Mx linux here! (sysvinit) Just migrated away from systemd due to the drama.
Whatever your preferred matrix client is. That’s the alternative. Element, Nheko, Fluffychat, all decent options.
Is it perfect? Hardly. Is it the best you’re going to get short of some cheap discord knockoff? Yes.
God I hate steam fanboys so fucking much. There is no such thing as a corporation which cares about you. Every single action is done to keep profits up.

News@lemmy.world•USDA warns about Walmart chicken nuggets contaminated with lead
31·24 days agoYou could just do what the rest of us did and nod your head and not defend walmart?
It’s not like walmart is above it, and it certainly isn’t like walmart needs you defending them.
These are peaceful rallies steered by liberal groups. Those thousands of protestors aren’t exactly militant, they didn’t show up for that. If any radical action actually happened those people will leave and never show up again.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it safe to leave the front door unlocked at night in the US?
4·1 month agoAs I move into bigger and bigger cities the people around me insist the answer is no, but I regularly leave the doors unlocked. I also have no issue hitchhiking either so, maybe i’m a bit of an outlier. I’ve got infinite levels of trust in people.
IMO yes they’d be successful.
Full disclosure, my experience with hypno is more kink related and not in a medical context, so my experience will be drastically different than those that get into hypno for therapy because most of the time the people performing it in my case are amateurs leaning heavily on preexisting dom/sub power dynamics (ie not “true” hypnosis). YMMV.
I don’t really visualize things in my head at all. Sometimes on a good day I can imagine almost a fuzzy smoke like outline, but this isn’t a typical day for me. I can imagine sounds, smells, tastes and especially touch/sensations… [email protected] made a great point in one of the comments here. Using the word “pretend” is a far better delivery.
In my personal sessions I have the best experience when people can suspend my disbelief and make me believe they are incredibly skilled, even if maybe they aren’t. Part of that is just me really wanting to be hypnotized, and honestly that’s the biggest thing. If you want hypnotized you will be hypnotized, and if you don’t, you won’t.
I can pretty much just think about the sensation I feel during hypnosis and put myself into a sort of pseudo trance at this point. I listen to audios occasionally and try and do a session with someone about once every couple months. I’m not really fully educated on the mechanics of it all, but I know I enjoy it.
Please explain how this in anyway could even remotely be mocking dependency?
As if flash games weren’t 75% dressup games, tower defense, and shit platformers. We still got plenty of that slop don’t worry, we just have other kinds of slop to go with it.
Didn’t we already find out Linus is a scumbag to work for like, 2-3 years ago? Why do we still spread around his content? He’s a talentless hack that got lucky being one of the early tech personalities on youtube through NCIX

United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•What's preventing a General Strike in the United States?
10·2 months agoOnly 10% of the US is in a union. Who’s going to lead it?
The biggest of those unions I’d guess would be AFL-CIO, which I suppose did a okay job leading the Minnesota strike
Roughly one in four Minnesota voters either participated in the January 23 day of shutdown and protest against ICE, or have a loved one who did…Of those participants, 38% percent stayed off the job, either because they did not go to work, or because their employer closed for the day of action… 45% of voters “generally support the call for no work, no school, no shopping as a form of protest.” https://inthesetimes.com/article/labor-general-strike-minnesotans-ice-protest-trump-cbp
Keep in mind those numbers are voters in minnesota, not super great for a bunch of “progressive” people.
Even the national strike on the 30th wasn’t terrible, but neither had any economic effect. There just isn’t enough organization, especially in key industries. People aren’t educated on unions, even in communist circles a ton of us are running around without a clue what good union organizing looks like.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why isn't there a Windows community? Is Linux winning?
1·2 months agoAll perfectly reasonable responses to bad questions that waste people’s time tbf.
I think the point is davel has you tagged “ignorantass” on lemmy. Which would imply some kind of equivalent system exists on lemmy too.

I’ve not even hit 30 and have too many fell for it again awards from “progressive” Democrats. Won’t vote for one again the rest of my life that’s a promise.
