I demand to know when they are gonna make Scotty Aukerman’s spinoff of Young Sheldon: “Shelderly”?
Explicate the inexorable, fucker.

Canada is like Australia: tons of land but all of its population is concentrated along some type of border. Canada’s is with the Yanks, Australia’s with the rip and dip.
The song closing the first season is a banger that I still have in rotation. But the arcs balancing hope with realism are its best qualities.
I second Batman TAS, and raise you Gargoyles.

Cunningham is such an amazing actor he even delivers sick burns like they’re his own words.
(I reckon all famous people have writers for their social media as a componemt of their public relations.)
Alternatively they’re unable to accept the persecution of a highly prejudicial society. Everyone chooses what they’re willing to sacrifice to get by. It’s completely possible for something to be very important and worth fighting for while also not being something you want to deal with right now with everything else that’s going on.
I loved A Clockwork Orange in college. The longer I reflect on it though I notice how Alex’s overwhelming charisma (cool, funny, aspirational qualities) completely outshines the film’s intended artistic thesis of the tension between free will vs social control.
My guess is that since Kubrick realized he had so much high art cred by that point in his career, that he challenged himself to direct this with so much elegance and care that his audience would know something is off but that the social and emotional cost of admitting it had become too high. By doing this he could maximally identify with Alex. It’s a film about Alex foremost.
Burgess’ nadsat slang creates stylish distance from the more objectifying aspects and functions to legitimize them (e.g. ultraviolence, the old in-out in-out). I wish I could live my life in perfect alignment with my values and goals, while externally appearing disinterested and hilarious, with the evidence of the former only available to those who look deeper. Unfortunately I’m just a piece of shit and that poster is fucking badass!

Let’s keep reframing the same joke, I’ll do a shaggy dog:
The massive musculature of bears is no match for the steel instruments used by veterinary dentists. Despite objections from animal rights advocates to the use of powerful topical anesthetics on animals already being held in captivity, studies show that the alternative options fare far worse. If these medicines were not used on the animals they would rip their teeth out trying to escape the pain of the procedures. Alternatively, old bears in the wild often decline and die partly due to tooth wear and loss. It’s actually one of the natural causes of death in aging bears, since they can no longer feed efficiently, especially as they enter hyperphagia preceding hibernation. This all goes to show you that there’s safe teeth in numb bears.

Nah it’s a fermenting vessel for baked beans. Best hooch you’ll ever try.

There are not one, but two 200MP cameras here.
And from here:
Configurations start at… 512GB, going up to… 1TB of storage.
My guess is they, like everyone, is designing their products around cloud storage. That way they get free content to train massive AI systems. No hoarding of all that juicy privacy allowed!
Oh, bother (where art thou?)
Real life Bulbasaurus did it first (except the name)
Bulbasaurus was ostensibly not directly named after the Pokémon Bulbasaur, but rather after its nasal bosses, which are unusually bulbous among geikiids; however, the describers noted that the similarity in name “may not be entirely coincidental.” Additionally, the specific name of the type species means “leaf razor”, which is most directly a reference to its keratin-covered jaws.

At least the Cold War ended due to global warming.

Bats’ immune systems are insane and kinda an interesting example of game theory. From the perspetive of our dumb immune system bats are aiding and abetting criminals. But it’s actually a smart strategy.
Whereas most vertebrates try to strictly eliminate all infections, bats just suppress them. This means the former experience severe spikes in inflammation that actually damage the individual. Whereas in the latter they just have an always-on low level inflammatiom which is easier for them to adapt to since it’s consistent.
The infectioms don’t need to mount as much of a virulence response on bats because they’re allowed to persist/reproduce. Unfortunately, until humans can learn to bioengineer our own bat-inspired immune upgrade, bats will remain a vector for mutating viruses that eventually spill over into being compatible with infecting human cells. Fucken zoonosis.
Excessive noise is bad, violence is worse. Moral licensing for escalating is a hell of a drug.

Conversation here’s beyond casual, it’s implied.

It’s nitrates (i.e. from fertilizers).
Technically true 👍
