I get it. It’s not that everything was better back then, it’s that the things that were better, were way better.
It’s a feeling of profound loss at what could have been if capitalism didn’t win.

Unless it tickles my loin-goblin and makes me a sandwich while I’m using it, there’s no way I’m paying that much when my 10 year old, $25 controller still works fine.
Podman is the way.

The guy has an uncanny knack of accelerating good things, despite trying his darndest to destroy everything good.
Canada was becoming divided before he came along, Tesla was considered a viable brand, and now he’s inadvertently driving the world to renewables.
What’s next? He somehow tries to take Greenland and ends up ridding the world of micro plastics?

Just stumbled on this in search. I have high hopes for a place like this.
My hobbies and side projects are usually based on dreaming up stuff based on the notion that my half-assed knowledge on things might help me think outside the box.
Sometimes it works, sometimes I find out why it can’t be done the hard way. It’s the journey for me.

Because they are one of the few mega companies that hasn’t shrinkflated, enshittified, or otherwise crumbled the quality of their offering. Haven’t sold out the privacy of their customer base to advertising companies, and are generally good to deal with for customers and developers.
It’s not a secret formula that no other company can learn from. It’s as simple as not being dicks IMO.
For some reason, most companies seem to grow too a certain threshold at which they sell their souls to profit and will self destruct to get more of it. Steam thankfully isn’t one of them…… yet.

I’m kinda sad we used “Stupidgate” the last time he was impeached multiple times. This kinda relates to gatekeeping and is muchly stupider.

The ultimate bully snowflake grifter madman.
Remember when this guy was just a shit tabloid piece once in a while? The ones that used to be where all the candy is now by the checkout, with shocking news about some b list actors nonsense drama?
Those were the days…

I guess you are right. The staggering thing for me is the shear apathy required to do what they are doing. It’s revolting and frankly terrifying, but fascinating.
There is a yet to be diagnosed mental illness involved here, for so many people to so callously trumpet and parade toward things that actively and directly hurt them as well, just to prove some imaginary point.
It’s like psychopathy mixed with a side of Stockholm flavoured bias soup.

I mean. You have to give it to them. They are really going all in on destroying anything that actually made America great.
I’m not sure if that was the original goal, or even the intent now, but even with how terrible this news is, if the goal is to systematically dismantle a country, these guys are very very good at it.

The only way this flies this long is that the whole lot of them are corrupt. The investors, the platforms, the regulators, the banks. All of them.
Someone needs to start sleuthing to document all those who are even potentially involved, what they are supposed to do, what they aren’t doing and submit the lot of it to the FB… …
Oh right, never mind…
It sounds to me like you are at the mercy of the bots then unfortunately. I have had literal empty websites up just to see what the bots do and within a few hours the sites are hammered with crazy bot traffic trying everything from MySQL connections, ssh, Wordpress sniffing, xss attacks, you name it. They don’t even seem to care that the site is 403 forbidden or just a blank page.
It’s the World Wide Web we live in nowadays according to my experience.
I try not to expose mine to the internet for this reason. I have it on a central server that WireGuard connects to a vps overseas, then I have it tunneled to my home server through a random port as needed for access from the net, then I block it again. All my machines sync this way with the central server, either through vpn tunnel or directly on my LAN depending on where I am.
Unless you need to showcase your code, I wouldn’t recommend exposing your instance to the internet at all. And if you have to, maybe reverse proxying it and add some monitoring and blocking software to help. Like fail2ban or the like. Good luck.

I disagree. Not in the sense that you are wrong. The similarities to previous grave mistakes is often stunning.
My own personal thoughts are that even though the similarities are there to other historical blunders, the sheer scale and depth of pure stupidity and gross incompetence on full display right now for all the world to see is so mind numbingly unprecedented on so many levels that it shouldn’t be referred to as anything other than a brand new low.
It’s like referring to anything else somehow makes it seem less bad. Even though past conflicts were devastating.

Laughs in completely switch to Linux

Since most of them have been suckling on those sweet sweet kickbacks, bribes and donations from oil companies since forever. Most politicians probably couldn’t fathom living off of their salary at this point.

You post on tough guy rants in your own echo chamber social media site demanding things like a spoiled child, while some poor sod has to spray more wood preserver on your old, scaly, pale face to try and fool the world into accepting that you aren’t the literal Antichrist.
Oh and covfefe.

Dude is a legend. A reminder of how the FBI was and should be. If only the core US systems had more like him, maybe this shit show wouldn’t have gone so far
At least he is an equal opportunity rapist. Wait, does that make him woke?
