It’s not like it was a true story in the first place.

I’m fine with the logic of a species going extinct because they destroyed their own ecosystem, but intentionally accelerating that process is what I can only describe as evil. It’s doing massive harm for no benefit. It won’t save the planet’s current inhabitants from further damage; the real motivation is genocide against humans.
Is there like a robbery culture analogous to rape culture that I’m not aware of? Is there a ruling class of black people who feel entitled to other people’s stuff? Do black people frequently avoid robbery charges on the grounds that one mistake shouldn’t ruin a whole life with jail time and a bad record? Are you sure you didn’t want that black man to rob you? What were you wearing at the time?
I love it when dogs can absolutely climb/jump over fences like they’re nothing, but they actively choose to respect them because they’re good babies.

3·3 days agoIn a study published in March in Ecology, scientists detailed these findings, which they say are the first-ever observations of a carnivore soaking its dead prey in water.
I don’t understand this statement. House cats are famous for dumping prey animals and toys in their water dishes. There are also videos of tigers bringing kills to water, and searches indicated I might find other large cats doing the same if I put in the effort.

They overlap significantly. In addition to what’s seen in the image, the wolves’ territories will move around due to various conditions. There are no fixed lines that could be likened to states’ borders, only vague areas that can be likened to respecting personal space. Compare the wolves’ ranges with the white line indicating the national park border also seen in the image, which does not move around based on vibes.
How is that any more or less cringe than any other ball sport?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a 'social rule' that we all follow but nobody ever actually agreed to?
1·8 days agoI think it’s really fucking weird that you’re expected to thank them for it. Otherwise I wouldn’t care.
When I was a child middle-class women would usually have multiple rooms of the house in which no one was allowed to exist because our very skin oils would destroy the fancy fabric, so I understood this immediately. I was made to sleep on floors so as to not ruin couches.
There actually are multiple bacteria which can eat PET plastic now. The ocean is lousy with them because that’s where we put all the plastic. :)
I don’t think it’s necessary for anyone, though I understand you probably mean they feel it is. They’ve done at least one study I read which showed that being fed content actually makes you stupid in the immediate short-term (long-term was outside the scope of the study). Consuming the same content by selecting which ones you want to see caused no problems. It’s the removal of agency that’s thought to be the problem, training your brain to be passive.
Honestly, the John Wick films are a bit tired at this point. I think he should die at the end of one so that his dog can go on a 2- to 3-film killing spree during which he raises a troubled youth with a heart of gold, abandoned by the system, and then the dog gets killed at the end of those movies so the kid can go on a killing spree and maybe rescue an abused circus animal or something.
What if we film the dog and the hooker and call it art?
Why don’t they just make them behave like normal videos? The problem with shorts is the repeating and the endless scrolling (and the ever-present prompt to scroll). A lot of perfectly useful/entertaining content has been recommended to me by the static presentation on the home screen.

Sushi is not raw fish. Sushi is vinegared rice.

I agree with captainlezbian’s and your posts below regarding compromise and compatibility in a sexual relationship, but what you need to realize is that in this context “denying sex” is saying no ever, for any reason outside like extreme medical circumstances. In the culture being criticized by the OP, a wife must serve her husband at all times. They spin it a number of positive-sounding ways to make women complicit in their own oppression, but it comes down to her lacking rights and agency as an individual.
