Oatmilk is the only thing I’ll use for lattes or whatever, I prefer much more than regular milk. I use the full-fat Oatly or any of the barista oatmilks though, the regular ones definitely aren’t as good and do seem more watery

History Memes@piefed.social•"How dare you teach the poors how to read"English
1·23 days agoTrying to get my friend to learn Japanese with us - she can speak fairly well (as far as a little bit of studying and a 2 week vacation spent in Japan takes you at least), but she definitely gets overwhelmed by some of the kanas. I think just seeing some that appear so similar like…
ウヲワネフラ
Stresses her out a lot. Ironically, her husband can read kana very quickly, but isn’t as good speaking and doesn’t know most any of the words he was reading. At least he could read the signs in Japan and she could say what some of it meant 😆
You never go ass to mouth.
Yeah I was about to say, that price was a week or two ago here
Looks like a big blueberry to me
Did a war write this article?

Open Source@lemmy.ml•I made a cute open-source App for learning Japanese, and it somehow won in Vercel's OSS Sponsorship Program
6·2 months ago-
I really like this app! Good job 😁 I’ve also been learning Japanese, and I feel like this is a good interface, especially for learning the Hiragana and Katakana.

Not trying to take the spotlight away or anything, but if you’re looking for another source to learn, Renshuu.org (there’s also an app) is also super helpful! There’s paid options, but I think it’s all for extra testing material and crossword puzzles or something.
The main problem with renshuu is I feel like the UI is very confusing, it’s put off a lot of people when I’ve recommended it. Duolingo is an easy UI, but I feel like it does an awful job for teaching, it rarely explains anything

Casual Conversation@piefed.social•Music Monday [Week 09] - What have you been listening to lately?
2·2 months agoAgreed about Joyce Manor, still liking it. Hot Mulligan just released a new single recently too if they’re up your alley!
I really like the idea of compact keyboards but like… I can’t imagine not having my numpad, so I guess it just isn’t meant to be.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Im curious what they will come up with

Yeah for real, that nine dollars an hour is a dollar and seventy five cents more than my states minimum.

News@lemmy.world•America is drinking more coffee but less of it from Starbucks
4·3 months agoThis is very interesting to me, because the reason I don’t like Starbucks is because their coffee is SO much more bitter. I obviously don’t know what your local coffee shops are like for comparison though
“it’s similar too” or “it reminds me” I think? That’s how I’d describe it from my understanding

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it Possible that a Typical Quantity of Sneezes is Inherited/Genetic?
2·5 months agoI have sun sneezes, I didn’t know this was also why I sneeze multiple times in a row. Thanks! Haha
Wow I was trying to figure out why he sounded/looked so familiar but wasn’t ringing any bells. You might be into something there

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you sing to your pet or have other silly interactions with them?
2·5 months agoI’ve been talking to my cats in Japanese as practice a lot of the times, although I’m very much a beginner so it’s pretty basic. I think they don’t understand me, but they also might just be refusing to understand “wait 15 minutes” before they can eat lol

askgaming@piefed.social•What do you do when your backlog gets out of hand? Do you actually work through it in some sort of order, or are you basically just collecting games at this point?
4·5 months agoI go through phases. I’ll usually only buy games when I see them on a decent sale, but half of the time I’m playing multiplayer games just to do something with friends (recently, it’s been a whole lot of Peak).
I’ll usually jump into a story based game, and usually play two or three of them all the way through. Then I’ll go back to only playing the multiplayer ones. It’s mostly a lack of time thing, and would usually rather enjoy time with friends, but I do try to get through some of the games I’ve been anticipating eventually. As for an order… No, no order at all. Whatever sounds fun in the moment (right now, I just started playing Deathloop as of last night for example)
Is get your own house in order a common phrase? I can’t say I’ve ever heard that one before

I tried helping a friend with this a few weeks ago, and we struggled with getting it running on raspbian. I think it’s no longer supported? Or maybe out of date.
I don’t know if you’re avoiding this solution, but we we ended up just installing Steam Link onto the device and it seems to work fine that way
