sorry if this is annoying, or if you've gotten tons of these asks!

with metal cardbot w coming out pretty soon, will you also be subbing it on your website? no pressure if not, i'm just curious!

also thank you for subbing the previous two seasons, the original/korean dub is my favorite even though i don't speak korean (yet... ^^)

We will be subbing Metal Cardbot W! However, due to copyright restrictions, we can't add subs until the episodes appear on the official YouTube channel, which can take a few months. But once they're there, they'll be subbed on the website soon after!

We might have something else planned for the holidays, though... stay tuned! :)

Hi, just a question, on the page to watch Metal Cardbots with subtitles, how can one add them? I would like to add Spanish subtitles when I go on vacation (very busy right now with school) but I don't know what I should do. On your Twitter I saw that you helped with the English translation (correct me if I'm wrong).

Spanish subs would be so awesome! Thank you for wanting to contribute more subs for MCB! @cabalex would probably be better to ask about these things (being the website creator!), but I'll give a little rundown of how you can make your own subtitles and sub card!

on the website first, click these two thangs:

then after selecting which episode you want to work on, click "load from default subtitles" here:

and this is where the magic happens:

you can also adjust timings with the buttons here too. and you can select "add line" to add a line between two others. timings will need to then be adjusted with the buttons. if you don't want to work within the website, you can download the .srt files and edit them that way! you can load them back into the subtitle editor on the website later too.

and now for saving and exporting!:

make sure not to edit the subtitle card in any image editors afterwards, because it can mess up the file.

I hope my MS paint guide is helpful but if you have any other questions feel free to ask either of us!

If anyone ever needs to know anythings abt metal cardbot please never ever consult the fandom wiki if u want correct information. Fixes have been attempted but get undone in favor of wrong information 😑…

Theres plenty of ppl u can ask if u ever need info! Though anything with an actual source in the trivia section is usually reliable!

New blog: Astral Chain Fun Facts!

Go follow @astralchainfunfacts if you're interested in a bunch of random facts about a 6 year old game that I've spent way too long in!

You'll get to see this!

And this!

And... wow, I have a lot of these things.

Although I suspect most of you follow me because of Metal Cardbot, and that's fine too. I'm not a cop.

(actually, why do both of the things I obsess over contain human-alien partners who are chained together and one of them is also a police officer?? Maybe some of you will like this blog after all...)

Metal Cardbot at BotCon '25 - What's new?

4 PM PST: Updated to clarify TCG information. (It's not being planned at the moment.)

Thank you to @rinovarka for covering this event! Please see the full Twitter thread for more info.

What's new since Toyfair in February?

  • Names have been changed, again. See below.
  • They showcased the first episode of the dub at the panel. The dub appears to be the same as the existing one, even down to the old names (Blue Cop, Mega Trucker). Rino writes that "A light apology is given for the English dubbing, as it was done for affordability, and that Season 2's localization should be better."
  • If the first wave is received well, then there's more justification for quality dubbing, marketing, etc.. Lots of things (human figures, comic, etc) were answered with "if it does well, then maybe!",
  • There are talks about making a new Metal Cardbot TCG for the US audience, since TCGs don't attract much attention in Asia, but it's hypothetical (source)
  • They hope that MCB becomes good competition in the transforming robot market (people who work on MCB know TF and the American market, and study them for fresh views/ideas).
  • Planned to be distributed at Entertainment Earth, BBTS, and Amazon in Fall 2025. They hope to distribute to larger, in-person retailers in the future... "maybe"
  • Prototype packaging was shown off (see below) - not final

Prototype Packaging (Toyfair vs BotCon)

Toyfair coverage: misswhynowhy on Twitter

Cardbots

Season 1, Wave 1 (releasing Late 2025/2026)

Names are not final, and "they acknowledge the translated names arent that great right now", and that they're still tweaking them (and possibly the names in the dub).

Names marked in blue are new.

  • Blue Star (Blue Cop, formerly Blue Cobalt) - $23.99
  • Shadow X - $23.99
  • Bluster Gale (Buster Gallon) - $23.99
  • Mech Tackle (Mega Trucker) - $32.99
  • Steel Hook (Black Hook) - $32.99
  • Heavy Iron - $49.99

Season 1, TBD price and release date

  • Wild Guardian (Wild Guardy)
  • Buffalo Crush
  • Med Alert (Mega Ambler)
  • Fire Buster (Phoenix Fire)
  • Dextrous (Dexter)
  • Fleta Z
  • Ultimate Blue Star (Ultimate Blue Cop)

While Season 2 toys were shown off at the event, there was no timeline or plans announced to bring them to US retailers.

TL;DR: Dub is the same. More names changed, though none of it is final. The first wave'll come out in late 2025, along with the dub on Tubi and YouTube, which'll probably be very similar to the one we already have. "Loud support when MCB hits the Western Market greatly needed to justify bigger and better things :]" - Rino

Does everyone have their popcorn ready for the finale of season 2? Tune in here tomorrow for the final episode!

I had a lot of fun lending a hand with the edits for the English fansubs this season, but all thanks goes to @cabalex and staro_sphere for making it possible in the first place! Friday's are gonna start to feel a lil empty now 🥲...

I appreciate and applaud all the work you've put in to sub Metal Cardbot! I was wondering if you planned to do MCB S in the future? Sorry if this question has been asked before, I just wanted to know before sitting down and just watching the show without captions (and therefore not understanding anything, but it's better than not watching Metal Cardbot at all).

I totally did not see this message, so my apologies! Obviously, the answer exists right now, thanks to a fellow MCB fan who was willing to translate it.

Ultimately the bottleneck right now is how fast they upload the second season to YouTube. For Season 1, they uploaded the first two episodes before taking an five month break (April - September). I suspect they'll do the same thing with S2, to push people towards their [Korean-only] streaming service. But once they're on YouTube, we'll likely have subs for them soon after!

Also, when the official dub comes out (likely late 2025), I'll be sure to make subtitles from that and add it to the website! :)

Metal Cardbot S Ep 1 fansubs are here!

Merry Christmas, everyone! Thanks to staro_sphere over on Twitter and @cabalex and a little bit of editing from me, we were able to put together English fansubs for episode 1! We're not sure about the youtube airing schedule just yet, but we will try to continue to work on this in the meantime. As always, these are put over the official youtube channel's videos, so they retain all views and ad revenue. Make sure to leave them a like too!

I hope everyone has a happy holiday! 🎁🎄And we hope you enjoy the subs!

@cabalex Has done some amazing work to put together the Metal Cardbot English sub!!! If anyone has been waiting for subtitles to check this show out, now's the time! The subtitles are based on the English dub which is still being released, so the rest of the episodes will steadily be added as those come out.

No need for any VPNs, and these subtitles are overlaid on the official channel's Youtube videos! This way you get full quality, without piracy!

A fun little bonus is that your browser's translate features capture these subtitles too, which works a little better than youtube's built in auto translate. So anyone looking for another language, this may be a good option too!

I hope more people can come enjoy Metal Cardbot now!!! I really love this series, and hope others will as well! 💙

Do you have some Splatoon trivia that you couldn't find time/a place to tell but you really want to?

Avatar

how about i give some extremely niche and pointless trivia that i discovered and have never seen anyone else mention: the busses in inkopolis are mint green and dark green. this is the same color as the kyoto city busses, which is the city where nintendo is headquartered in

The Splatoon 1 train station jingle also sounds similar to the jingles they use on the JR lines in Tokyo!

It's also eight seconds long, which is precisely the length for almost all jingles on the lines.

Where Are Astral Chain's Major Speedrun Skips?

UPDATE: A new skip has been discovered that skips from File 02 to File 11! Though it's not without caveats: you already need a save file at File 11 in the first place. It's being run at SGDQ 2024, but a great explanation of the glitch can be found here.

A lot of video games have "ultra shortcuts", ways to skip hours of an otherwise completely linear game. Many of these take the form of clipping into loading areas left behind by the developer, or warping to the credits using some obscure trick.

Astral Chain has been out for over three years now, and has a relatively active speedrunning community (hell, ratyu's going to be speedrunning it at GDQ this year!). So, clearly there should be at least some major game-breaking glitch that lets you skip significant parts of a file, right?

Well... there isn't. The biggest skips speedrunners have found are in the Astral Plane sections, with some notable skips being the File 03 Hal skip, File 05 Beast fight, and second Hal Skip. But even those save a handful of minutes at best in a two and a half hour speedrun.

So, what gives?
